I guess since it finally got its act togtether and Sony got over themselves a little....

then 2009 is PS3.

2010...? 360 no question.

IMO, far too early to call that. Who would have thought this would be the year the PS3 did what it did, considering how awful the first half of 2009 was for it, even with Killzone 2 & inFAMOUS present. 2010 has no "definitive winner" yet, unless of course we mean sales, and in that area the 360 nor the PS3 will be the "winners".

I think he just means based on the 2010 line-up, for him, he's most hyped for the Xbox 360's games.

Which is fine. But he posted "no question", meaning it isn't up for debate, which I disagree with at this point.

What he said, basically. Meaning nobody can change his mind. And that's fine, as you said.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

I meant games.

Mass Effect 2, Fable 3, Halo Reach, Splinter Cell, Alan Wake etc plus the awesome 2010 multiplats.... it just wins.

Again, that's highly subjective, and at this point, strictly your opinion. Nobody "wins" anything yet, at least not from a broad spectrum. It's speculation and opinions at this point in time.

I agree with CGI

but all those games that you mentioned... ps3 also has exclusive games like Heavy rain, The last guardian, God of war 3, Gran torismo 5, Final Fantasy 14 online, MLB 09 was awesome so I'm looking forward to the mlb 2010

I am a loyal SONY fan and will always be.

I am also a PS1, PS2, PS3 and a PSP owner.

The ps3 did great. The slim launch left some critics with their foot in their mouth, and the ps3 continued to benefit from the success of the x360 by being able to share some of the best games of the generation with its hd brother. The long-prophesied migration of developers from HD consoles to Wii has not even begun to happen in the slightest. If anything, it's moving in the other direction. First party titles really began to shine this year.

What I want in 2010: Sony and third parties continuing to deliver high quality games. Sony needs to make improvements to the ps3's UI, namely streamlining things like updates and installs.

The Wii did very well for itself this year. While it's no longer sold out on a regular basis, Nintendo is still delivering on bringing new people into the gaming fold. Even with a paltry release schedule for most of the year, people are still buying Wii's very steadily. WM+ and Wii Sports Resort saw release but there's very little announced that will take advantage of 1:1 controls. NSMBWii just recently released and for many 2d Mario fans, it has already skyrocketed up there among the best mario games of all time.

What I want in 2010: A more consistent first and third party lineup. More obscure VC releases, and more original efforts for WiiWare.  WM+ support from developers would be great as well, especially in a 1:1 flight game.

5°) PC-> Some excellent exclusives like The Sims 3, Empire:Total War etc but a lot of delays (like Assassin's Creed 2).

"A lot of delays"?! Less than 2% of PC Games were delayed, while other games that were delayed from 2008 came out 2009 for PC only (mirror's edge being, for example). Hell, there's probably just as many, if not more PC games that came out first on PC and delayed to consoles.

As for exclusives, PC had more and better exclusives than PS3 and Xbox 360 combined in 2009.

thats why metacritic gave pc 2bd best line up or 3rd right.

It will be good to see if you can change my mind about the PC position, Shio. Give me some names for PC exclusives. Empire: Total War is easily the best strategy game that I played in my entire life and I doubt it will change next year or 2011 but it's not enough, give me some names.

-edit-

Ok, let me check those games.

Very easy decision for me but still doesn't mean that there aren't a lot of good things in 2009. I voted for the DS and I think it is quite clear why it was the system of 2009. It had a range of big exclusives that released throughout the year. There was never a drought of a good DS game and could only get it on the system. Also had a large support range for all kinds of different genres and games. Then of course you had some of the best sales with the most successful launch of the year: DSi. Even with the success of the PS3 Slim, DSi simply just blew it out of the water. Nintendo kept sales of the system at dominance for the entire year.

Second of course for me goes to the PS3. Had a good amount of big quality exclusives such as KZ2, Infamous, Uncharted 2, Demon's Soul, and Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time. Not to mention the vast amount of big 3rd party games that released throughout the entire year and filled in the wholes between big exclusives to keep gamers happy. Second part of this is of course the great sales. Had a pretty bad first part of the year but turned it completely around with the successful price drop and PS3 Slim launched which was handled perfectly by Sony in the marketing department.

For the rest I'd say Wii is 3rd, followed closely by 360, probably tied with PC, and then of course a distant last for PSP. Wii gets 3rd for it's continued great sales even despite a summer fallout but return with big sales after the pricedrop. Also had a vast amount of great exclusives that released the entire year with big ones in holiday season. 360 falls just short of Wii mainly due to the lack of really any big exclusives till we hit ODST. PC tied right with it for big exclusive and a healthy selection of titles but a really a fall from grace as consoles continue to take over and no one stepping up to take over.

Finally, PSP at the bottom. Had a good selection of exclusives but never really had that one big exclusives to drop sales of software or hardware. But sales were way down over last year and Sony's only attempt to solve it was that of the PSP Go which is easily the biggest commercial flop since the Virtual Boy. Truly a sad story for the PSP commercially this year but not too bad thanks to at least a good selection of exclusives for its buyers.
