The VGchartz community must be left speechless by this statement but please let me explain my findings. With both my reputation and credentials on the line I have absolute faith that the ps3 will hit 40m by July of 2010. In this moment of time the ps3 is a danger to society, stock shortages has led to in-store fighting, crow eating, forum metldowns, job losses and ruined christmases. A FBI spokesman has revealed an in increase in crime as people do anything to get their hands on the console that does everything.

With this week's ps3 sales of 1m+. the ps3 is finally showing signs of meeting demand. Unfortunately Sony Computer Entertainment was unable to cope with the crazy demand and therefore the sales for this week of 1m were very dissapointing. Sony could of easily of shifted 3m+ consoles this week and 12m+ for the month of December. But the factory workers were caught of guard, but in 2010 they will manufacture twice as many consoles. Retailers can breath a sigh of relief.

Let's look back at 2009 for a second, the year with all due respect the ps3 ran the show. In terms of AAA games it had no competition and all the awards garnered by the ps3 exclusives corroborate this statement. 2010 is shaping to be no different, with Sony finally able to meet the demand for their ps3's expect the ps3 to even outsell the Nintendo Ds. The stock shortages are no more!

The ps3 currently stands at 30m I expect with games such as GOW3, GT5, MAG etc. To continue the momentum from 2009, Ps3 sales on a monthly basis in 2010 will be 1.5m if Sony is able tackle stock shortages expect 2m+ a month. By july the ps3 will be at 40m, and 2.3m ahead of the Xbox 360.

2010 is sure to bring a few surprises let's hope those people that manufacture the ps3's get their act to together and meet the demands of the consumers. Start saving up Kids!

around 37-38 with my analysis is surely on the cards...

Anyway, my predictions...

I think it will average 750-800k per month up until about June/July.

January - July sales i think will be somewhere between 4,500,000 to 5,000,000.

Seems optimistic, but it is definitely possible (though personally I believe it is improbable). 5 million through the first 6 months of the year is certainly possible (especially if GT5 launches in Others/Americas in June or earlier). Guess we will just have to wait and see.

@ Abcdario: A few days ago you posted in a forum saying that you think the PS3 will top out between 35 and 40 million. Why will it suddenly hit 40 million in Spring 2011?

I'm guessing 40 million will come in September-October, but that's just me.

I think it will sell 1-2 Mio more then this year that would be 13 Mio Consoles (this year it is around 11 Mio but it will be higher because there are 2 weeks left).

So I see the Ps3 at 44 Mio until 1.1.2011, But if they have another pricecut in fall then maybe even 45-46 Mio.
