Me and the other Austrian PS3 gamer talked and decided we want to be a separate Region too! We are going to ask the Xbox guy tomorrow for his opinion!

thanks for your input... but the austrian market is too small.... way too small.

Oh...ok

i will tell the other TWO guys, they will be very disappointed though

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Out of curiosity Kowenicki, what are PS3 Vs 360 sales in the UK alone?

OT I like it the way it is. Three is a charm ^_^ and honestly, I think it would just be more fuel for the console wars on ze forums. Breaking down sales to more regions or categories is not going to help your future arguments which is why I ask that question, so it wasn't curiosity - more like "I see what you did there."

whatever

fact is UK is just as important as japan imo.  and europe is farrr more important.

UK is not more important than Japan;

1. there are hundreds of games made every year specifically for the Japanese market, there are no games made specificially for the British market.

2. succes in Japan will trigger more game development for that succesful platform. Succes in the UK will not make developers make more games for that platform because of the UK.

Not much of what happens in the UK has an influence on developers and publishers. What happens in Japan has much influence.

UK can be seen as a region of NA basically. The taste of the gamers in the UK is much more American than in the rest of Europe.
A reason why the UK is the ONLY sales region/country within Europe where the 360 leads the PS3. And leads significantly.

So developers and publishers probably will include the UK in their strategy for the USA in some way.

''Hadouken!''

I think its ok how it is just europe should be seperate. its really weird because the graphics shows 3 flags one from the US and one from Japan and the European flag. So why is others called still others and not europe but it got the european flag.

it should be

America's
Asia
Europe
others

this is obvious and i have no idea why they havent done that...sure ioi will be along soon to explain lol
also the Wii, 360, PS3, PSP & DS are all up on the main front as they are still in serculation...the PS2 is not dead (not even close) and still sells well.....so why is it not up there? donest have to be in the same group at the big 3 but just next to it

If a system is still in serculation and can still be brought it should be there

and WHY is the PS3 still using that font? thats not it! the rest of the systems use there's.....360 even has the logo!

Yeah, but the geographical difference comes into play then. The big three at least all have the UK and Ireland under their "Europe" divisions.

There are some games that get released in the UK and Ireland before the rest of Europe though, if they release in the rest at all, for the reason that localization wouldn't be worthwhile.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Japan rocks and deserves its own charts. Just because you don't want to see Microsoft's low numbers over there showing up on the front page every week isn't a good enough reason to lump it in with something else.

In addition to the main reason mentioned by Montana, Japan is still the home of a good number of important publishers and developers. Obviously they will also take their home country in consideration when making games. Therefore the hardware sales numbers of Japan are very important too. Much moreso than those of the UK will ever be, not only because the UK doesn't have as many publishers and developers, but more importantly because they tend to orientate themselves more by the American market anyway.

EDIT: ioi brought up a good point too. Looks like he knows his stuff.

For once I agree with  roll. What is the world coming too!

then you both need to read more carefully.... I actually said japan SHOULD stay.

He never suggested to change it ... I think he was implying that you'd prefer to see a UK slot next to Japan's to make you personally feel better when you compare regions.

Oh trust me, I've read it, and all I can see is a poor attempt to make 360 sales look better on paper. Your wish for the UK being it's own region will most certainly never happen, but I'm happy to see that the 360 is doing so well in the UK. Impressive indeed, and I honestly never knew it had such a lead over the PS3 there.

@playstaiongamer

NA EU and AS would be a good idea I would support this . But the consoles are up there because they are the same gen consoles if the PSP would almost stop selling it would be up there too.

You have a US flag for countries like Canada and the EU flag for countries like Brazil. Use a goddamn animated gif or something. Or at least replace the flag images with neutral ones.

Yes there are... PS2, Wii and DS in particular have UK specific games... nothing compared to Japan of course... I think there were 5000+ unique PS2 games for Japan, but only 3000 for PAL and 2500 for Americas.

Which flag do you suggest we use?

Lol I knew this question would come.

The answer is simply a globe like you use in the games sales.

I would really prefer to see europe as own but I understand changing this would be a huge effort. Maybe in the future?
