Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony has just got the foot in the door but the door is still not fully open

Its great to see that finally PS3 is giving some tough time to XBOX n to some extent to Wii in Japan, but they r still no where in comfort zone.. rather i will say they have finally got their act together n now they have a chance to do good if they dont make stupid mistakes they did earlier..

The biggest problem i see that Sony needs

1. some ever green titles, which can sell week after week n yr after yr.. Like MS has Halo, Nintendo has so many to list... Sony doesnt have any.. u see MGS launch with 1.5 million n then thats a long tail only. Only title doing so, so far is Uncharted 1 to some extent

2. Sony needs to push their first party to have a title ready in holiday period.. I still believe had they got one more big exclusive title launching in November it would have been an even better story.. like GT5 or GOW III or or even Heavy Rain or atleast WKC in America...

3. The advertisement was better but there is always room for improvement..

4. Lastly but not least, where is the PR.. come on, they should tell they r selling 3x faster than last yr, to make the people feeel like that only they r left buying it..

I think the price is now right.. advertisement quality is better but not quantity.. and they have exclusives coming out but they need to make them come out at the right time..

Cinematic interpretation of the present console situation and how it could possibly turn out. In short, Sony better watch it's foot!

Agreed sony needs atleast one HUGE seller like Halo or Mario, which they don't seem to have yet, and MotorStorm does NOT count.

2. Sony needs to push their first party to have a title ready in holiday period.. I still believe had they got one more big exclusive title launching in November it would have been an even better story.. like GT5 or GOW III or or even Heavy Rain or atleast WKC in America...

White Knight Chronicles could have been a 2009 holiday game with EASE if SCEJ and Level-5 Really WANTED to, but Sony themeselve wanted more Dev time for the game in for NA.

3. The advertisement was better but there is always room for improvement..

Agreed, there is ALWAYS room for improvement here for anyway... except nintendo since there perfect when it comes to getting kids for the DS/wii.

4. Lastly but not least, where is the PR.. come on, they should tell they r selling 3x faster than last yr, to make the people feeel like that only they r left buyin git..

Huh?

Really?

Sony has a big title that sells, and has a better sales record than the Halo series with Gran Turismo. That game will hit next year, and it will move some consoles, but Sony has proven for 2 generations a couple of big titles don't put you at the top.

What Sony has to do is just keep cool like they have this whole generation. Like they say, this is a marathon, not a sprint. The gameplan is set, and has been in place since day one. Start with the hardcore, and work your way out to the masses.

Next year Sony will be hitting the mass market hard with Gran Turismo, Motion Controls, Ape Escape, and more. They are placing their bets on Rockstar to once again hit it big with new comer Agent, which I believe is Rockstars first full fledged effort of this generation. Additionally, they are keeping the hardcore users happy with tons of great new features and services. The addition of 3D for movies and games, cross game chat, and cloud storage to name a few.

2010 will bring Sony's digital distrabution drive into full force with PS3 leading the way. A new subscription based model is being created for PSN to cover many new features, and give Sony additional cash flow for marketing, price drops, and software enhancments to the system.

I have said they same thing since November 17, 2006. Sony knows what they are doing. This race is not over, and this generation all of the rules have changed. This generation will be longer, and PS3 will pull through and blow the doubters away.

People talked a lot about Nintendo disrupting the market this generation. I have a differant idea. I believe Sony planned it out all along. They built a high end system knowing they could never steal the market day one due to a high enrty level. Instead they placed all of their bets on a combonation of differant things leading to this gen proceed much differant than any before it. Once PS3 sets in the thrown as the best selling console of all time, history will be written just how I stated it above.

Go ahead and laugh, call me crazzy, keep your minds closed. In 2 years we will look at the market and see just how much the landscape changed, and I bet I will be right again.

Yes.

4. Lastly but not least, where is the PR.. come on, they should tell they r selling 3x faster than last yr, to make the people feeel like that only they r left buyin git..

What is PR?Price cut?I still don't get this sentence.

Take my love, take my land..

You know mass media like having the news stations say your system is too expensive don't buy it. Or go on a talk show and have people play Wii tennis.
This gen has been a mess. The only thing that might need an extra push is the wand. Other than that E3 and regular adds are good enough.

Go Team Venture! I still don't get the Wii, PS Move,  and Kinect.

You know, I think this praise and raving is intoxicating to Sony. It's encouraging them to stay in third place, in my opinion. So you guys need to stop a little bit, seriously.

Earlier this year I got the PS3 and played all the best games and a bunch of demos, I've been a PS2 customer and a PS1 customer. I've been enjoying a lot of DS lately and not to brag, but I also predicted the Wii boom way before it launched.

As great of a technical pride and amazing performance the PS3 and its major games carry, when I play them I KNOW the people who made these games don't really understand gaming. They're looking at games from a number of angles that have nothing to do with most people's enjoyment. From this perspective I do believe the PS3 could get a very big sales boost from people hoping for it to be like their previous PS2 experience. But then, gaming on PS3 is totally different from PS2's.

While I know the PS3 may rise considerably, if it's going to continue this path of focusing on the technology of games and their features which PlayStation wasn't about from a consumer perspective, it will not stay afloat. It's simple really. It's beautiful, it's grand, it's amazing, it does everything, but it's not "it". Gameplay, accessibility and intuitiveness are king, on all generations of consoles including the PS2. But this generation, for some reason they decided to forget that.

The PS3 isn't at all like the PS2, for some it might be much much better. But for most it's nothing like what they wanted.

I agree PS3 is not out of the clear but...

1. This is true, although it may be too early to tell but the Uncharted series is selling well at the moment and is winning awards left and right. The Uncharted series may become the face of Sony games.

2. Can't argue this but blame the developers if you have to, you shouldn't really blame anyone because the developers are taking their time to make their games better and better than the competition.

3. Right now the PS3 advertisements are better than the 360's and the Wii's so why fix what isn't broken?

4. I don't understand what your saying here... sorry

and to comment on your last statement, for $299 you get a gaming system with

a. Blu-Ray player

b. Superior graphics on exclusive games

c. Built in Wi-Fi

d. Free online

So PS3 offers the best value for your money.

2010 Hardware Sales Predictions

Wii: 20m- Sales will drop, but not by much.

PS3: 13.5m- It sold 12m in 2009, its only common sense it will sell more this year.

Xbox 360: 11m- It sold 11m in 2008 and 2009, I think it will sell the same.

My Fanboy Speech...

Why do you have to make excuses to defend a product that you purchased, but that's the only connection you have to it, you don't make it, you don't lose or gain money on it. I don't see where all of the defensiveness comes in, there is no reason for you or anybody else to feel obligated to defend it. Now I would understand if one of you were a developer for the product and you slaved over said product only to hear somebody call it stupid or a piece of junk. But none of you developed it, none of you are mature enough to realize that. Choosing a product all comes down to preference, you chose said product because it is best for you. Simple as that!
