Forums - Nintendo - Anyone find this odd? (Nintendo Channel related)

On the Nintendo Channel there are pages for every game and some games are missing right?

One of those games is Majora's Mask even though is selling very well according to the top 20 in the Wii Shop channel but Super Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros have their own page and they were released after Majora's Mask

What do you think about it?

That's not the only thing that's odd about the Nintendo Channel
Why isn't it showing the play time of Resident Evil 4 Wii or Let's Tap? :(

Take a look at my photos on flickr

Its been well documented that the coverage for some channels (especially in America) are spotty. As well as Nintendos online service in general.

The only channels that seems to have regular updates and focus are the Wii Shop Channel and the Mario Kart Channel (which strangely has yet to miss a single update yet that I can see). All the other channels have either had downtime, missed updates or even have been pulled for western release, such as the internet channel (though its still available for download in Japan).

When it comes to the Nintendo Channel itself, it originally seemed like a good idea for browsing new content. But it quickly had limitations, such as most games outside of Nintendo published games didn't have previews or even info on the database. And their intuitive 'search by interest' feature mostly didn't work. Frankly, the whole system seems more like a dumbed down version of gametrailers.com running through the Wii interface. A nice idea, but VERY limited. I wouldn't be surprised if the people running it are a bit lazy and don't even update the content with all the information, thinking most people only search the database for certain content (such as WiiFit or WiiWare titles).

Six upcoming games you should look into:

I dont know where you get the idea that the NC is mostly limited to Nintendo published games. Dead Space Extraction has well over 5 videos, Muramasa was previewed on Nintendo Week, No More Heroes 2 has some footage i haven't seen anywhere else (probably not exclusive though). Complare that to games like Excite Bike, Mario Galaxy, or Metroid Prime Trilogy that each have very few or no videos at all. Of course big games like Wii Fit, mario Kart, SSBB, etc have massive coverage, but thats to be expected.

Its natural to assume that anything that is officially Nintendo would be inclined to side with Nintendo, but i dont think thats the case with this software.

The NC channel coverage is patchy... for instance Alex Kidd in Miracle World was (until a few months back) a regular in the top 20 downloads for UK... yet it doesn't have an entry on the Nintendo channel, even though two other Alex Kidd games do, but neither of them sell enough to get data.

The PAL channels have never missed an update though (to my knowledge) unlike the American one.

Games missing data is just something to live with for now, as the oddest example, the Australian Channel differs slightly from other PAL regions, it is usually missing a few games for no visible reason, but odder than that is it doesn't have play data for Wii Sports.... The game that has more time spent on it than any other.

That's because those games are not on the channel at all.

I don't expect that of Nintendo as there are probably over 1000 games available for the Wii now (there are about 230 on the UK channel)

The things that are odd are like the Wii Sports thing in Australia I mentioned, or the same problem with Resident Evil 4 Wii for America.

Majora's Mask is on the VC? Holy shit!
