yup, this is probably correct.  Some of the guesses in the OP are ridiculous.  GOW is coming out in march right?  You expect it to boost sales from 200-300k to 1 million?  Games have little boost effect in reality except in Japan.  The best chance for PS3 would be same week next year and just hope that the sales momentum is higher than this year, but to me that sounds unlikely.

GT5 Release: This is very very unlikely but it is possible

Versus wont have the same selling power as FF13 so its a very slim chance (and is only possible during the holiday season)  Scratch that , it has no chance of selling one million and if it does in that week it would only be because of a 199 price tag.

i wont want to bet on this thread because most of the times thread like these come out, the first pages get like "No" or "NEVER" then they get over 9000 crows served the next month or so.

Some week (or many weeks) in christmas season 2011 with 199$ price tag and possibly new real PS3 ''Slim'' model.

Gran Turismo is a definite possibility, as may a Black Friday.  Did Uncharted 2 cause the PS3 to sell a million titles in a given week?  I believe that God of War is closer to Uncharted than Final Fantasy is.  And, I don't hold out Final Fantasy being a million console selling title outside of Japan.  Worldwide, JRPGs aren't what have the largest buzz.

GT5 can't lead it to a whole huge million/week.

To say it is impossible is madness. Improbable, yes.

Impossible is a man growing wings and flying to mars.

Relatively speaking anything that happened before means there is a chance of it happening again.

Simple logic. Saying it is impossible isn't common sense.

If PS3 gets the "right mix" next christmas there is every chance, same goes for x360.

It may or it may not sell 1m in a week again, but surely not impossible.

After reading most of the posts I agree the the best chances the PS3 has of hitting 1 million sales in a week are during Christmas/Black Friday and the next sets of price drops. I don't think during the rest of the year it will hit 1 million.

It could do a solid 6 or 7 hundred thousand when GT5 releases in EU/NA but I don't think a single game will push it to a million.
