To really make people switch they need to only put movies on blu-ray.

That would be a terrible move since DVD still have a sizeable marketshare.

Yeah, all that would do is piss many people off.

Yes, peaceful coexistence is the best way to get it accepted, people don't like to be forced. And anyway, an abrupt switch, besides pissing people off, would deny to new movies the vast market of people still sticking to their DVD drives and not ready to buy a BD yet.

i think its smarter for companies to start exclusively releasing the double packs. Its smarter, saves them packaging and shipping costs.

all my family now have a blu-ray player of some type with hdtv's and we love watching movies together,i bought 8 blu-rays for presents and i got them brand new for £7-9 obviously not brand new releases but some classics and fairly new releases, much better prices now and i noticed second hand BD have come way down in shops

still bought some old films on dvd though as they aren't out on BD

                                                                                                                                        Above & Beyond

i think the sooner they switch to BD the better, too much piracy kills everything.

Saw The Boondock Saints on Blu Ray for $10 at Walmart then I look and it was $13 on DVD.

On Black Friday I bought my first Blu Ray movie (Have one other but it was a gift) I got The Last Samurai for $7. :]

I just got The Hangover on Blu Ray through Amazon, and it comes with a digital copy. It was $15.99, while the 2-Disk special edition was $19.99.

Love that movie!! :P

I can relate, because a month ago i went to buy juno on dvd and say it at $10 and i went in the blu-ray section and saw juno being sold $14. just an extra $4 for hyper picture quality and some special features is worth it and it came with a digital company also to be used in regular dvd players.

the change is coming. the blu-ray section at my local best buy's are huge and expanding and to see a lot of consumers in those sections just put a smile on my face.

That won't have a big impact on piracy.

Probably only for those who rent movies and then copy them, but those are in the minority.

Blu-Ray drives, burners and blank Blu-Ray disks will get much cheaper the sooner the industry switches. Same situation as before.
