im getting Dead Space Extraction soon... but i want opinions.. which dead space should i buy first? the dead space on ps3 or dead space on wii? i thinking of going extraction because its a prequel to dead space on ps3/360

After reading this I have no idea how Dead Space: Extraction got such spectacular scores. (I have only played Darkside Chronicles, not Extraction).

I already bought both too and I haven't touched Darkside Chronicles because I want to wait until I'm completely finished with DSE. I'm glad I decided to after reading this.

Thanks Rol!

I have a question though, I am looking at the Nyko Perfect Shot, because I think it would be fun to play with a gun type handle, but in RE:UC you have to hold the A button down and shake the Wiimote to knife, is this possible with the gun case? Is it worth getting it or is just using the wiimote as is the way to go?

DSE did get good scores because it kinda adds some gameplay elements aside of shooting and melee. They can actually be fun, such the statis fields, the light management and the gravity management. All of that adds to the overall gameplay variety and those are reasons its overall ranked higher, say than HOTD or the prior UC for most reviewers in Metacritics. Personally i also consider those redeeming qualities .

Is it better than Umbrella chronicles?

Way better. Most notable, the ranking system for two players got overhauled. While in Umbrella Chronicles it was damn near impossible to get S rankings, because both players got rated seperately, in DC their scores get combined at the end of the level. This means you can beat and unlock everything in two player mode (the exception may be the tofu mode bonus level).

I didn't know that. Fantastic news, though.

Spot on. DS:E has depth and strategy which RE simply doesn't. It is a competent but generic shooter wrapped in an RE theme.

To answer if RE:DSC is vastyly better than UC if you can deal with the camera. It looks better, headshot are more reasonable, and the pacing is better. On the downside it is much shorter and easier. I was really dissapointed with UC but enjoyed DSC quite a bit.

Both DSE and DSC are too easy though. That said Extraction is the better of the 3.

As for which Dead Space to play first. It depends. If you want chronology go with Extraction, if you want it presented the way the devs planned play it on HD first. Personally though I had a lot more fun with DSE than I did with Dead Space on PC. It was just too repetitive and monotonous. Though I realize I'm in the minority on this.

I eventually probably will get both. It was surprising to me that the media was scoring DSE consistently higher considering that RE:UC is the best rail shooter that I've played on the Wii and figured that RE:DC would also be really good. It looks like I was right. It's good to hear that neither game is a stinker though.

The surprise to me was that the scores for UC seem to be higher than DSC. From the people I've talked to most (not all) seem to prefer DSC. I think to some extent DSC got hit by a backlash for being another railshooter in a crowded year. Which is a pretty unfair thing to downscore a game for. At the same time I think UC benefited more than it should have because it was an early somewhat competent attempt in an open field.

UC is a good long game though, which sadly neither of these 2 are
