could have something to do with increasing homework load? I don't remember a time before 70s where majority of people would stay in school for more than 12 years in their lifetime.

the only time my eyes have trouble readjusting to normal distances is when i paint something small at my store.
Painting causes blindness!

Actually... that's not even true.  Or at least non in my anatomy of the brain class when i was in college.

In reality stuff life reading too much, playing videogames, reading too close, reading when it's too dark etc... all it does is strain your eyes.  Which isn't permanent.

Maybe the teacher was full of it though.

The doctor was exactly right. It's the lack of blinking caused by focusing on a screen that leads to eye strain and damage, not evil demons that come out of the console.
