That's not exactly true and you know it. What have the FF remakes ever changed about their original structure? From the GBA, DS and PSP remakes, the games are identicalto their original counterparts, with some few things added up.

ooooo no, you see those are exceptable remakes because of there chosen platform they kept ghe Original style of the game... if LoD/FF7 was remade for PS3, kept everything the same, just updated graphics and sound.... that would not be exceptable for PS3 or any consoles, you can do that with handhelds, not with consoles

Isn't final fantasy VII supposed to be rema-...

**scrolls down**

Nevermind, there it is.. But, as for a PS1 remake, Megaman Legends 1, or 2 would be great, maybe even both. With.. top notch graphics... Megaman Legends had great graphics on PS1, so, why not?.... That gives it something different from Megaman X and Megaman.

FFVII and LoD and MGS1

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Well, that's probably true, but it was also not the first time it was attempted on a homemade console, as Final Fantasy Origins and Final Fantasy Anthology comes to mind.

Granted, for HD consoles the games would need an extreme makeover to make them work, not just upgraded sprites and animations like they had in those PS1 conversions, but I think that the game producers can do those improvements and still mantain the same overall feeling of the original game.

It all comes down to what potentially the producers are willing to do, but reality shows us that it is almost far-fetched to think of any remake of a PS1 game to the current HD consoles.

Antalogy and Origins are enhanced ports, not remakes..... noticed when PS1 or SNES games get a remake there on PSP/DS, its to best way to remake a classic while letting it retain its original form even if updated like FF4DS, on Consoles they would have to completely redue them

@Xxain

We have no possible way to know that, as we don't have any game that we can compare to, or take elations from.

The FF remakes for DS have shown us that a remake focused solely on upgraded graphics can be remade, everything else is just speculation. If the formula worked for past generations, it still can work on the current generation.

I'll take the example of one of the most requisited games for a remake, FFVII. What, or why, do you think that they could or would change from the original game to a HD remake, and give me an example of why the original formula wouldn't work nowadays.

Lets see: 1. battle system - in a gen where console JRPG battle systems are becoming more action focused FF7 is outdated they would have to upgrade it 2. pre rendered backgrounds - everything would have to be remade in 3D FF has had those since the PS2 age 3. Sound - VA's and updated OST 4. the world map - it would have to be remade to look like FF12 and 13( seemless) 5. Graphics - Character/monster models/ Animations/ physics i mean JRPG's have changed alot since PS1 days.... everything about FF7 would need to change EVERYTHING...nothing about original FF7 could fly on todays tech

@Xxain

I'll address your points one by one, giving you examples of JRPG's this gen:

1 - Lost Odyssey; Classical JRPG Turn based game with little to no action oriented gameplay
2 - That's why I've been saying about the Graphical Upgrades only
3 - Pretty much every JRPG released since the PS2, they could simply add VA to every line of dialogue in the game that was relevant
4 - Lost Odyssey once again; It has a perfect World Map that really reminds you of the PS1 FF days
5 - Once again, they only needed to change the graphical input of the enemies and their animations

You see, other than upgrading the graphics, adding VA's, doing new animations and doing everything in the HD style, the similar feeling of the game can be pretty much kept.

And by this I mean the same combat mechanics, the materia system, the story, the minigames, everything can be kept the same and still work.
