I hope we see a real Fallout 4 from Bethesda not Interplay.

They do not have the rights to make 'new fallout games'. They only have the right to make a Fallout MMO. Bethesda has the right to make all new 'regular' fallout games and spinoffs.

This is my understanding as well.

So bye-bye Project V13, Hello Fallout MMO!

That's about the only difference I see this making...

Honestly, FO2 was better than FO3. Good thing Interplay won. Now if they pull thier shit together and make a great Fallout again everything would be right.

Except that most of the key staff from Fallout 2 are now working at Obsidian, rather than Interplay.

But you're likely going to get your wish: Obsidian's making New Vegas.

That is also where some key talents of the late and venerable Black Isle studio went and the only reason I'm keeping a keen eye on new Vegas even though I wasn't a big fan of Fallout 3.

Nothing has ever beaten Planescape for story in a game period.

I don't trust Interplay with the license. I feel that Interplay will make Fallout into the new Duke Nukem Forever with what they are doing. Also if anyone wants a Fallout game from the original devs, Obsidian (who has most of the original team) is developing New Vegas for Bethesda.

Just to make things clear.

Bethesda bought the interplay licence for something along 5 million dollars. I could be wrong on the amount, but it was part of the funding for debt relief/investment towards the next game. Interplay does not own the Fallout IP any more. Interplay however since Interplay owns Fallout 1 & 2. Interplay managed to maintain the ability to sell 1&2 as is. So Interplay is not allowed to make any Gameplay code changes. No patches or anything. Though some how they managed to remove the DRM, though I guess that's not part of the game play.

Interplay also maintains the rights to the Fallout MMO. As previously said Project Vault 13 can now safely be called Fallout MMO. The issue of the legality wasn't so much sales of the original FO. Though that's probably been tossed in there.(FO 1 & 2 have been out selling FO3 this year). It was mainly Bethesda using a financial clause in the IP exchange. Which stated that if Interplay could not get so much capital funding and hasn't started on game developement by a particular date. The FO MMO licence would be voice on Interplay part. Thus Bethesda could make a FO MMO. I know that it says that Beth is angry over the succesful methods of Interplay sales due to smart choices, but that's just an excuse. Betheseda is more concerned with a FO MMO. It will be the only MMO of it's kind that has a already strong following. The real burn here is that Bethesda is giving the Fallout MMO more gaming market because of FO3 and it's expansions. yep that's right Beth is actually assisting Interplay attempts. If Interplay succeeds with a good MMO(snicker ROFLMAO, maybe). then Interplay can get a pretty darn strong foot hold. With a superior longer term income over Bethesda. [Theory only: This could lead to Interplay having a potential rebuy clause in the contract(but that's only a theory). This would actually be really an odd blow to Betheseda. It would have asisted Interplay in gamers for FOMMO and reignited the FO line for future Interplay FO games. ]

In the mean time. Bethesda can and won't make a FO4. Bethesda is working very well with FO 3 and it's expansions. It will also likely make a lot more money than an FO 4. An FO 4 will be made when the engine becomes to dated for gameplay expectations. ie better physics, better online....

Interplay will continue with it's operations.

so it means nothing right now.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Interplay will make a proper Fallout MMO they day Duke Nukem Forever gets released. As a gamer all I see it a licesned been wasted, though I can see why Interplay was so desperate to win this.

Hm, Interplay isn't exactly what it used to be, so I can't see this as a good thing. But let's wait and see what they have planned.
