Forums - Nintendo - nintendo announces 2010 lineup (until like april)

Last year it was MKWii + Wii Fit + SSBB, that carried Wii until the beginning of this year, when most of the momentum was lost.

Kind of my point, all those games were released in late 2007, early 2008 and they carried Wii into 2009, and Wii had really no games in 2009 until late summer, so over a Year

NSMB Wii on the other hand doesn't have to carry the system for the full year, Wii's lineup even early on has some decent games, and will get a lot stronger in the 2nd half, so at most, NSMB Wii only hase to maintina momentum for about half a year, and has more games to help it than Wii had in early 2009

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

They were all released in very late Q1 (SSBB) and Q2 2008 (Wii Fit and MKWii), not in 2007 or very early 2008 like you say, stop twisitng things, it will make you look bad and damage your credibility.

We are talking of course everywhere but Japan, where the Wii in 2008 actually sold less than in 2007.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Oh ye of too much faith. I just hope Nintendo is more paranoid than you about the whole thing. Hey, this time last year, what were you expecting to happen to Wii momentum as it went into the new year?

No, because last year it didn't have anything for more than 2 quarters, Animal crossing and Wii music bombed in 2008, that's why the momentum was lost in 2009, there were no games, this time NSMB Wii is not a bomb and there are more games coming in 2010, totally different situation.

It is a totally different situation, Nintendo is already in decline right now. It's hard to regain momentum once it's been lost, and that's what Nintendo need to do (otherwise they should be preparing for their next console). NSMB et al might carry momentum for a quarter or so, but it won't last much longer and even then it can't be taken for granted.

ROFL in decline, lol, to be in decline, they'd have to be still falling, when the truth is, they stopped falling, in fact they are back up, not quite to 2008 levels, but well above what they were earlier in the year, in fact last week they were up yoy, so I think you need to stop and think before you post again.  Now as for a New console, wow, again stop and tick before you post, they are still over the PS2 and passing the NES, no need to have a new console.

As for NSMB Wii, it doesn't need to reverse the trend the trend is already reveresed and stabilized, all it has to do is maintain, and yeah it can't maintai nfor the full year, but it doesn't need to, Wii's 2010 lineup is already much stronger than 2009, and we haven't even had everything announced yet, all it has to do is maintain for a quareter or two and even there, it has help.

Wii fit released in 2007 and Brawl was released in Jan 2008 and Kart in Early April, which is still early in the year, also WW is the issue, not just everywhere except Japan, so yeah I'm not twisting anything, tryng to make it about everywhere except Japan is twisting, WW sales in 2008 were above 2007, that's what is important.

Well i for one kind of think Nintendo 1st/2nd parties should be doing a lot more. We haven't had anything at all from some depts. since the Wii launched. Where is the output from NSTC? Where is the output from Retro? They can't have been just sitting on their arses this entire gen. Also there's some internal teams that have released exactly... zilch. Where are the new IPs? Where are the existing IPs that haven't been used this gen like Kirby Pikmin or Donkey kong? Just releasing one game on your own console in 3 months is kind of pathetic. Nintendo should have enough big guns to spread them out quite nicely throughout the year. Q1 is going to be the time Nintendo really needs some of its bigger internal titles in the marketplace to try and keep some sort of momentum up, or else it will diminish again.

One week doesn't make a trend... They've been down YoY for almost the whole year, and were even so for Black Friday...

I didn't expect Nintendo to have no new games for most of the year and AC and Wii Music to tank so badly, however that's not the issue this year, NSMB Wii isn't tanking, and Nintendo has a much stronger lineup in 2010 than 2009
