Forums - Nintendo - nintendo announces 2010 lineup (until like april)

My List:

Wii:
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle – late January
Red Steel 2 – Q1
FRAGILE DREAMS: FAREWELL RUINS OF THE MOON – March 16

DS:
Shin Megami Tensei®: Strange Journey™ – March 10
Ace Attorney Investigations™: Miles Edgeworth – Feb. 16
Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version – March 14
Sands of Destruction™ – Jan. 12
Infinite Space™ – March
Sonic Classic Collection™ – Spring
Ragnarok™ DS – Feb. 16

Meh at the Wii Lineup.

I'm very surprised at how weak the DS lineup is, especially compared to past quarters. Hopefully this is an incomplete list though.

While I often find myself disagreeing with Avinash's reasoning in various threads, and I don't know how the Wii will do next year, I have to side with him on the decline/no decline argument. If a basketball player scored 20 baskets a game in the end of 2007, then went up to eventually 40 baskets a game in 2008, and in the first months of 2009 he would do 25 baskets a game (still more than any of his team mates), at that stage it would be a decline/downward trend. But then if for whatever reason further into the 2009 basketball season he would go up to 35 baskets a game (and I am not talking about a single week, look at the chart Avinash provided), NO ONE will say at that stage that he is in decline. Yes he is not at the peak of his form that he was in 2008, but no one would be saying he is still declining, everybody would be cheering...

More OT: I have this feeling that this is an incomplete list, MH3 is going to come out Q1 with a black Wii bundle.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

bmmb1, are you aware of any strong seasonal trends for basketball players?

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

^Except the turnaround in Wii sales occurred before the seasonal trends took hold

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

So you're talking about the four weeks after a price cut...?

For the Wii, I'd say it is not stellar, but is an improvement over 2009 in both sales potential and personal taste.
I think these 5 titles will sell more than 500k worldwide total.
Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll
Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing
DanceDanceRevolution
Endless Ocean: Blue World
Red Steel 2
and these 2 games have a shot at it.
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
TATSUNOKO VS. CAPCOM: ULTIMATE ALL-STARS

Throw in that Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus, and NSMBWii should all still sell well, I think it is a substantial improvement over last year.

For the "core" gamer, I would think between Red Steel 2, No More Heroes 2, Tatsunko vs. Capcom, Fragile, Sky Crawlers, and to a lesser extent Monkey Ball, Sonic Racing, and Endless Ocean 2, that Q1 2010 will be off to a much better start than 2009, when the core games were even more niche than this year with Tenchu, Deadly Creatures, and MadWorld.

Yes, while not a stellar opening, this is indeed a way better opening than Q1 2009.

2008 the new Nintendo games that were supposed to carry the Wii on their shoulders into the new year were Wii Fit (published already in May 2008...), Wii Music and Animal Crossing.

2009 it's Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus and NSMBWii. Quite a difference imo.

Then Q1 2009 we had Tenchu, Deadly Creatures, and MadWorld.

Q1 2010 we'll have Tatsunko vs. Capcom, Red Steel 2, No More Heroes 2, Fragile, Sky Crawlers, Shiren the Wanderer, some very nice Wiiware games, and possibly more

Not stelllar but quite a difference.

The PAL line-up will maybe be even more limited than the american one, but there are still many games comin' that i'll buy for sure, enough to keep me busy till spring...

Fragile Dreams is on the top of my list, and Rune Factory Frontier will finally be released in Europe, in march as well... FFCC Crystal Bearers and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories will be here in february, too, but i'm not 100% sure about these...

And of course, Red Steel 2 and No More Heroes 2 should be mine... and maybe even the Sega's All-Star Racing... but Sky Crawlers, no european date yet (i think)... so, not bad, really...

Plus many great games on Wiiware, too: easily a handful of these are must-haves for me...

And DS, well... Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes should be here in january, and i hope Infinite Space will be released in Europe very soon as well... and i'd like to try the Korg DS10+, as the first one was nearly impossible to find here, and this one's even better anyway...

The only real disappointment is the absence of Sin & Punishment 2...

I thought Nintendo was planning something like S&P 2 for Q1, Other M for Q2, Galaxy 2 for Q3, and Zelda for Q4... i really hope S&P2 will not receive the Excitebots treatment by NoE, cos then i'd really be sad and angry... :(

But otherwise, quite a good start for 2010: january will be slow, but after that, i'm in for a ride...
