Forums - Sony - Does the original PS3 have an pre determined life cycle??

Ok, before you label this as flaimbait, may I just start off by saying I am a very Proud supporter of Sony and their products and they normally all are so reliable, but recently I have noticed lots of failure posts about original PS3's failing.

Unfortunatley, quite a few origianl PS3's have been failing from either YLOD or Blu-ray drive failures, which makes me think more and more about wheter maybe Sony had put a pre determined lifecycle on these things, as I never have had any problems myself before and I have always looked after my consoles, but even my PS3 is having major problems and I am replacing it with a Slim.

If indeed Sony did do this, they would know for sure they would get extra sales as a boost from failures, anyway feel free to discuss.

You do realize that Sony loses money every time they sell a PS3 right??

of course I do read my above post it explains all, if you studied business studies you might understand why it is better to lose some money, rather than everythin you have ever poured into a product. Sony are making a loss for now, but soon they will not be personally I am looking forwards to seeing them profit again.

So why exactly would Sony force you to spend 300$ on console they are not making any profit 2 or 3 years after losing more than $100 for selling first one to you ? Please give me at least one logical answer how they benefit from it (instead of you having $300 to spend on games which would be pure profit for them).

What does Sony gain by having people buy a second PS3?

Nothing, in fact they lose money on each PS3 they sell. They also lose their reputation (they had hardware problems in the last two gens, but not so much in this one).

the only way i could see them benefitting, is obviously more sales and to finally secure that second position, I only said what if, nowhere at all did I actually accuse Soony of doing so, and I would never do so, also like I have said previously, even if they do lose some money on each second PS3 sold, it is better to lose some then lose everything they have ever poured into PS3, do you understand now??

Edit: I apologise if i have offended any of you, it was not meant to offend, just meant as a mature discussion ok

lmao

who the hell could ever think a company would ever have the balls to pull crap like that, something like that getting out would sink them.

and some one always talks.

I have noticed a lot purchased around the same date failing, mine was a 40gb from 2007 and when it went i remember about 3 or 4 others went on people from vg in the same week

60GB from 2007 still running smooth here.

I'm going to go with 'No'.

yes phinch1, that's what got me thinking, about this, the fact that we all bought release ps3's and somehow they managed to fail around the same time (bar a couple of weeks). I am still waiting for my PS3 Slim, can't wait hehe.
