Mass Effect 2.
Hard choice, but the universe, music and atmosphere of Mass Effect trumps anything.
Hell, similar thing in 2007, if I had to choose between Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey, I would take Mass Effect. It says it all...

You really have trouble differentiating between opinion and cold hard fact, don't you? I think the majority of the board would disagree with your sentiment (and his for that matter). If you compare ME to Baldur's Gate (among the most beloved PC games of all time) you'll find that ME is... not that exceptional to most who have been doing this for a while. I liked Dragon Age as well but I feel that its a step down from Neverwinter Nights II so I also believe that Bioware have lost a little something along the way (and I don't like their "consoleification" of their games either, makes the PC versions less than they could be, as is the case with ME). |
Sigh, once again the reading comprehension fails. ME does rival BG2. Direct comparisons are difficult since they are such dissimilar games. I can understand noobs like you think that BG was the high point but technological progress makes direct comparisons difficult. Personally, I think the absolute pinnicle was the gold box games, but even then how do you compare those to Wiz1 or something?
Dragon age is a good game but I haven't bothered to finish it so that should tell you something.

Now that's not entirely fair.
NWN2 was Obsidian, and they're better than BioWare
Mass Effect is my favorite game of this gen, so I'm going with Mass Effect 2 here. Both will be great games though.

Noobs like me? What an excellent retort. I'm proud of you. You really tore my post apart and proved once and for all that Mass Effect is the best game ever made.
I used to really love JrPG's, but as games became more frantic and fast paced and my life did as well I had to quit the JRPG addiction. Now all except Final Fantasy seems boring to me. The elder scrolls brought me back to RPG's and now I love some Wrpgs. Still hate everything bioware except for mass effect. And I think Fable two is a discrace. I still look forward to FFXIII, but now I am skeptical that it will be better than any WRPG made by bethesda. Bethesda over Final Fantasy for me (Barley).

FF13 very easily. Simply put, Mass Effect will be forgotten in 2 years, but Final Fantasy 13 will be a timeless classic.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
I will be buying both, but WRPGs have been better this cycle so I would give the nod to ME2.
