there is a difference between the BEST game you have ever played and your FAVORITE game...my favorite game is fire emblem radiant dawn on the WII, but i know that MGS4 is the best game i have every played.

BEST----MGS4
Favorite----Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Not even close. MGS4 has to be one f the worst games ever. As a movie it ranks just under FF: Spirits Within on quality. I'm still askng Kojima to pay me 10 hours worth of pay for that PoS game. At least the intermission gameplay was good.

OT:

Hard to choose....

Prolly X-COM.

@nearaf

Play The Witcher, Mass Effect is a iddie game in omparison.

There is a trip throught the way back machine.  X-Com was a really good game.  In it's own way, it would still hold up too.  It was one of the first PC games I ever played (not counting my early Mac Infocom games).

The Witcher is a decent game, but nothing earth shattering.  It seemed like it was trying to be an RPG but went through stages almost like a shooter.  I thought Mass Effect did a better job, it's only problem was that if a person was good at targeting with a controller, the game got very easy at times.

I also disagree with you about MGS4.  While the cutscenes are WAY overdone and WAY too long with bad dialog, the game play elements are still strong and thats what ultimately carries the game into being a pretty good game.

I give that post a 9.4.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

Chrono Trigger. I played it for the first time in 2000 through an emulator. *spoilers ahead*

Once I found out that I had traveled to the year 600 AD, my mind was blown. I loved that it was the medieval ages, I loved the time paradox, and Dreko (the name for Frog that I used the first time I played) grew on me quickly.

Traveling back to the future only pulled me in further. The mysterious crest upon arrival immediately piqued my curiosity, I really wanted to know what was behind that door, yet I had no idea how much more gaming I had left before I'd be able to open it. The Lavos revelation was awesome, but immediately after that... what happened? Oh yeah, I only traveled to the END OF TIME. Fucking sweet man, who even thinks that there might be such a thing as the end of time?

I only got sucked in further with the Masamune, 12,000 BC, the epic battle with Magus, and all the story revelations that are revealed later in the game. The story is so complex yet it all intertwines so elegantly, it's unreal.

Other reasons that it's my favorite:

- ATB is the best :p
- Great characters
- New game +
- All the different endings

I've easily beaten CT over 50 times, I own it on SNES, PSX, and DS. It's such a brilliant game that I now replay it at least once a year out of principle. I'm only just beginning to grow tired of the game, but I still have things to keep me interested. I've yet to do a no item playthrough, tech only playthrough, no tech playthrough, and so on.

chrono trigger is my third fav. this was my first jrpg.

There is no way I can pick only 1... I like all the Mario platforming series equally and Smash Bros. TF2 and L4D2

Because I can play those whenever and never get bored of them.

Yeah I can't really pick the BEST game. But my favorite game right now is TF2 because I get very excited with goosebumps when there's a new update :)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Mainly cause incredible local multiplayer is like, one the most important things to me in a great game. It never gets boring, we pretty much just have epic fun for hours and hours non stop.
