Forums - Nintendo - Why doesn't nintendo do hype anymore?

it's a bit crazy that the next Zelda might be coming in less than a year and there is no hype!

Now that I think about it, the hype Nintendos big historical franchises are getting is almost non existent, like Zelda ST was the least talked Zelda ever. Same with MP3, and NSMBWii was also showed a couple months before release. I dont know why they insist with the secrecy.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

E3 2010 will be chaos.

Hype only works on the core, and can end up causing customers who buy into it to be disappointed. Nintendo is trying the reverse strategy, making games that don't need hype but sell because people are highly satisfied with them and pass their enthusiasm (from actually playing the game) on to others. That way customers don't get burned, which is important for loyalty.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

this, except change the word core to "involved gamers"

Zelda basically hypes itself, hell it's 2nd only to Mario Galaxy for Wii games on my Most Wanted list, and there has been basically no information about it at all. (1 piece of art)

It's true on the Wii mostly.

It's true everywhere. Who knew about Golden Axe: Beast Rider? Who knew about Bullet Witch? Who knew about Oneechanbara on either platform?

Low-tier games get less advertising. This is a universal truth.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Because they don't need it?

In my opinion Nintendo should have 2 conferences a year.

1st(E3) Shows games that come out in July Augest September October November and December.

2nd(November show) Shows games that come out in January February March April May and June.

I like how Nintendo shows games only months before it comes out. I hope they keep it that way but even tighter. For example:

I think S.M.G.2 and M.O.M should have been shown at a Nintendo show in November and they shouldn't have been at E3 at all!

This says all:
