Forums - Sales - Why PS3 Lost Nov. If You Think It's Losing Steam Wait Till Christmas Rush

I must say this article is riddled with flaws. Particularly the authors usage of incorrect and misleading information. Such as the Walmart deal. It was not and in no way shape or form could ever be a $99 Xbox 360 Arcade deal. You had to pay $199, could not use the gift card on that purchase, and you had to be very lucky to be able to find 2 systems that day to actually use the gift card on a second system purchase. If anything, if you used that gift card on a starter pack, it would be like getting the old $250 Pro 60GB model for just $200.

Then he uses the rumored and falsified number of 1 million 360's banned. He even says "OVER a million" which is very misleading. Microsoft themselves outright denied that outrageous number. They didn't give an exact number, but I highly doubt it was that many. It started as a rampant internet rumor and something as shocking as that will get spread like wildfire, but it's still wrong.

Now don't get me wrong, obviously the Walmart deal, the MW2 bundle, and the banning did boost sales in some way or another (though most modders will just buy a broken system off of Ebay to fix and use rather than buy a new one), but this author went the extra mile to mislead others.

I guess this just seems a somewhat desperate attempt of a PS3 fanboy with a blog to reassure people in this stupid and pointless console war? Even if the 360 outsells the PS3 in NA for the remainder of the year as well (or vice versa), why does it matter? The PS3 is still seeing large growth YoY now, and the sales are much higher than before so why are you complaining still? Be happy and play your new bought systems, people!

yeah..waiting for the Dec Rush and especially 17th...where great numbers in JApan thru ff13 is expected!

I could tell you didn't write this article immediately due to one thing. Punctuation. It's still has your usual juvenile, dreadful anti-X360 bias though.
Sony would not be in this position now if MS hadn't given them a kick in the pants to wake them up. Competition is so important. A Sony monopoly would stifle the industry.

Playing: Borderlands(great co-op,HUGE amount of content),Too Human(better late than never lol),Saints Row 3(Penetrator ftw),Minecraft 360,Harry Potter Lego.

Patiently waiting for:  Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2

the PS3 is not loseing steam. the demend is high for the console.

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

Did Xbox 360 outsell Ps3 according to Vgchartz numbers?
Also, I wonder when these journalist start to look worldwide and not america only.

Well to be honest the only territory that really matters is the US and perhaps the other english speaking countries - UK, canada, and AU.  The rest of the world is too fragmented.  Northern Europe and mainland asia are PC-centric, and Japan is handheld land.

are you serious

The European Union is changing that. They almost all use the Euro now and a lot of the business practices are being standardized.  Over time things will just become more standardized and it will be less and less fragmented. The European countries are becoming more and more important as a region not to mention they seem to be less price sensitive unlike here in America where margins are cut down constantly.

Ps3 isn't losing steam at all...in fact a lot of credit should be given to sony for getting the slim out before the PS3 became a complete failure. Sony should have continued strong sales the rest of it's life cycle keeping it on pace with it's competitors.

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned that the 360 is the only console not to receive a real price drop this year. (the 2 main points are identical to last year)

This article pisses me off NPD IS NORTH AMERICA ONLY!!!!!!!!!!! YET NOT once is it mentioned to be so, its written and talked about as if 360 outsold PS3 worldwide when in reality it was over 2:1 in PS3 favor worldwide.... on top of that they fail too Mention NPD does not count some major retailers and online sales such as KMART which is re emerging as a retail power house in the North East USA...NPD sucks for numbers and people need too stop following it religiously..../end paragraph rant

...uhh...ill just put my favorite quote of all time here.

"Welcome to Pain, the second of three...You have dealt the first...now deal with me!!"
