Forums - Microsoft Discussion - why Japanese not support xbox? but US has a lot ps fans

Japan a socialistic country? They did have a conservative goverment for those last 54 years for christ-sake (!), and the supposed centre-left (which is as right-wing as the previous government) only won those last elections because the party in the power really fucked up.

America in comparison at least did have Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, during those last years 40 years.

Because Japanese already have SONY and NINTENDO!!! They don't need another Console, especially one that's western.

it's not like american aren't like that either.

they praise apple, GMC, ford, regarless of their quality,GMC low gas mileage, the Ford pinto times, or ipod mini/nano 3months - 1 year life periods.

toyota nissan and honda made betters cars, creative , sony and samsung made better quality mp3 players.

i'm pretty sure that what he meant was not socialistic as in government, but in cultural society. most cultures have larger focus on community when compared to the individualistic society found in the US.

The real problem isn't racism, bias, or even the RROD, but commitment to their market on Microsoft's part.

Remember when Sega pulled the plug on the Saturn because it was doing poorly in the West, Saturn games and consoles were still being sold in Japan. When Sega decided to become a software company and abandoned the Dreamcast, they still supported the Dreamcast in Japan long after the console cycle ended everywhere else.

My point is Japan is not Microsoft's territory and if their gaming division in Japan fails to bring in revenue, then Microsoft can easily withdraw from that market. For Nintendo and Sony, Japan is the last market they will abandon. Japan is where their main location is at and that gives Japanese consumers some insurance that the console they invest in will continue to be around for some time.

We all can agree that if we knew Sega was only going to support the Dreamcast for a couple of years, no one would have invested in that console. It is the same with Japanese gamers, they do not know if Microsoft is committed to their market enough.

The Japanese couldn't care less if Microsoft was to sacrifice itself. Japan is a socialistic nation whilst America is individualistic. They are for each other and we are for ourselves. They will support their companies and help them grow so they then provide them with quality giving back to community. America downsizes their companies and outsources to Asia so they wont have to pay workers as much and raise profit margins. America is the polar opposite of Japan....we promote competition and open-mindedness which is why we fail with the rest of the world. At some point Europeans buy their goods to support their economy, Japanese buy their goods religiously and America buys from everyone. If you've got something of value we want it. The average Europeans consumption rate per capita is nowhere near to us. We need to start being a little nationalistic so quality can come back to America.

If Americans were to, say, halve their consumption per capita, the world's economy would collapse. Asia economy and North America's economy rely enormously on each other. Asia, to sell their cheap goods, America to buy them. Europeans, as you said, do not buy foreign goods at the pace that Americans do, so they could not make up the difference on their own. American companies depend on people buying their cheap outsourced goods, so this would not turn out well...

The point is: Americans need to spend like crazy to support the world economy.

Funny thing is when the U.S. economy crashed, so did many countries like Japan and China. As soon as Americans stop wasting money because of the recession, millions of Chinese went unemployed and Japan's stock exchange fell apart.

To suggest that the rest of the world should be thankful for american over-consumerism is ridiculous. I guess we should thank them for climate change, high oil prices, the current recession and wars in the middle east too then.

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

post of the thread.

I got two words for ya.. MON TA.. no wait. A-BOMB!

The original Xbox did so atrociously that the X360 has had to fight off its negative image.

By the time the next Xbox comes out, MS should be in a better position *if* they support Japanese games like they did this gen.

And please don't turn this into an America or other nation-bashing thread.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

japanese devs dont really support the Xbox 360 so it gets little attention over there.. nationalism plays a huge role to

Actually japanese developers are supportign the X360 quite nicely. It's the japanese consumers that are hardly supportign it. It's a crime I say!

AS for OP NA has a huge number of X360 fans. A lot more in fact than the PS3 does. The reason it might seem like there might be more for PS3 is simply because Sony fanboys like to act liek that annoying neighbor you have down the street that always swears up and down they are right and you are wrong and you keep wishing you could just get rid of them because their nothing but a nuisance.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.
