I would say for next years its GT 5,Call of duty game and FF XIII.

Ok . . . I get that there are some people that hate Halo's popularity as much as they hate Halle Berry's beauty, but that doesn't change anything. Halo: Reach will be the single biggest game of next year. This is not Halo 3. This is bigger. It will have a push unlike anything you've seen that'll start this coming Sunday. It is selling to a MUCH larger install base (remember, Halo 3 sold at launch to what was at the time 53% of the 360 install base). And the games that are in the OP just . . . they're just not in the same league in SALES POPULARITY. Whether you like the series or not, its huge and this will be the biggest one yet.

The only game that could conceivably come close is GT5, but that's only in comparison to GT1-4 which sold to MUCH higher install bases on the PS1 and PS2. The PS3 install base hasn't embraced the series at the same rate (GT5:P is just over 4 million in almost 2 years).

Red - Maybe... As it's been said, there are many games that could outsell it.

Blue - Install bases dont really matter much, as has already been proven with a number of games (Most notably MGS4)

Green - GT5... Prologue. That's like saying Halo has gone down in poplularity since Halo Wars and ODST haven't sold as well as Halo 3. (And a small addition, GT5:P is the highest selling "Prologue" of the series.)

GT and GT3 are the only ones to have outsolde Halo 3 (so far 400k from outselling GT.)

Halo 3 Sales: 10.45 million

According to Polyphony Digital website (as VGC GT4 won't have been updated in ages):

So, to date GT, GT3 and GT4 have outsold Halo 3. I wouldn't be surprised if Halo 3 did outsell GT and GT3 later, but it has yet, which is what he said.

As for the rest of the stuff, I would have to agree with you (apart from the download rate of ODST, I think that would be considerably lower in terms of ratio download:disc than GT5: Prologue would have been. One factor: not all 360 owners can even download ODST, as not all owners have HDDs).

I do think that GT5 could well outsell Halo Reach for the year, because it is launching earlier. By 4-8 million? Only if Halo Reach doesn't actually launch in 2010.

Nothing can touch Halo: Reach. It will outsell everything else, easily.

Ok, I expect reach to perform like Halo 3, so based on that here are my thoughts on the games listed. (all based on sales, as you really can't fairly compete in any other way). Also, if he is talking America only, then there really is no competition.

1) yes - the series is doing fantastic (even WWII versions), across all platforms (including PC) it should have no problem. If we are talking consoles only, then it will be close.
2) no - the series has bombed and it would take a miracle for it to outdo Halo. Most people will probably see it as a ripoff of Call of Duty.
3) don't know enough about it to say either way.
4) probably not - New IP, GTA like game, while GTA IV did well enough (combined) to outdo Halo 3, why should this new game do as well as GTA IV? Most new IPs don't take off to the +5m range, so I see no reason to expect this one to.
5) no way - the best selling FF is just shy of 10m units. To top that off, most the japanese sales will be in 09, so it will have a major disadvantage in 2010. Also, due to the lesser performance of the HD consoles compared to the PS2, I expect sales to be slightly down. Sort of like GTA:SA compared to GTA IV.

now, as for other games listed above.

* GT5 - possibly, I expect around 8m, so it has potential. It really depends on if it ever releases
* God of War 3 - no way ever. This game will top out at 3m most likely, just like the predecessors.
* Gears of War 3 - no again. 5-6m units, I expect Halo Reach to do better. ODST (the Halo 3 expansion as some call it) already broke 3m.
* Twisted Metal - 2m sales at best, if it even exists.
* Galaxy 2 - only if it launches early in the year like rumored and Reach launches really late.
* Wii Sports Resort - possibly, but it will be close. Wii Fit did over 9m, but got its legs cut out by Wii Fit Plus. WSR managed to maintain ~>200k every week so it has potential.

Starcraft 2-(an entire country will buy this game)

WoW:Cataclysm-How many of the current WoW install base WONT buy this? Not many Im betting. ( i have not played WoW in 6 months and Im even excited for some Cata!)

From the consoles tho:

Final Fantasy 13 will not for one reason. The OP said next year and the Japanese release is THIS year. So if you take away this years sales, the NA/EU/AU/Late adopter JP will not hit the Halo Reach numbers. It might overall, but not if you exclude the JP Decembers numbers.

GT5 has a chance but it all depends on how much Sony markets the game. If they release a GT5 bundle WW (custom console, game, extra controller...etc) they have a damn good shot at this.
