Forums - Nintendo - Is gameinformer even trying to hide their trolling anymore? 6.5 for SH:SM

I think we're all missing the point here.

1) A reviewer calling the shadow effects on a modern game like SH:SM "the worst [he's] ever seen" is blatantly ridiculous. Really? Worse than a launch PS1 game? Worse than the tons of (often highly rated) PS2 games that just put a simple shadow "halo" around the character and called it a day?

2) The reviewer cites the fact that Harry moves slow, but Harry's just a normal guy. Normal guys move slow. Do they expect him to move like Dante in DMC or some shit?

3) The reviewer is apparently really insecure about himself - he thinks that holding the Wii Remote up to his ear will both make him look like an idiot AND annoy everyone else in the room. Hmm, projecting your own insecurities much, Mr. Turi?

4) The "horrendous grinding sounds" coming from the Wii Remote are static. Hasn't he ever played another SH game? Having the radio static come from the Wii Remote helps immersion quite a bit.

tl;dr: Game journalists suck.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

I'm sorry to say this but they are doing their job. If their opinion is that a golf game didn't really need the extra-content but better graphics and more precise controls instead then let them be and move to an all-Nintendo site.

I'm not sure because of your wording, but you do realise that the Wii-version had both all of that extra content and way more precise controls, right? While the other version had better graphics, worse controls and less content. And they all got the same scores.

How can a wii-mote be more precise than a pad ? Show me a review stating the HD version had worse controls. Please ! I beg of you ! PLEASE !

Let me quote from Metacritic.

"Tiger Woods 10 on the Wii is the definitive golf game. Beyond the high level of immersion from the Motion Plus controls, and the many months worth of entertaining game modes, this version welcomes the widest ever audience to a "sim" sports game. EA is leveraging the Wii perfectly."

"The addition of the Wii MotionPlus controller provides an incredibly realistic swing mechanic. That alone makes the purchase of Tiger Woods '10 for the Wii mandatory for anyone that has enjoyed previous versions but been frustrated by the lack of feel in the controller. You will not be disappointed!"

"An absolute corker of a golf game that will make owners of the Xbox and PS3 green with envy."

"With 27 courses, an entire army of game modes, create a player, PGA Tour Season, online head to head play, online tournaments, Play the Pros, frisbee golf, party modes, improved graphics, and the icing on the cake, Wii Motion Plus controls, there is no doubt that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 is the best version of the game available on any console."

"A fantastic sports title that every Wii owner should try out. Sound and graphics aside, this game is one of the best sports titles ever released."

"An excellent golf game. It's all there: plenty of courses, long career mode and realistic swing control with robust MotionPlus-support. [July 2009]"

"With the addition of MotionPlus, Woods 10 on the Wii is a fantastic golfing videogame, besting its console counterparts because of its control options, extra courses, party game modes, and Frolf. Not to mention, it's casual friendly for anyone to play, but with enough difficulty options for the hardcore to stay interested. It's almost hard to imagine it getting better than this for the foreseeable future."

"Given all the ways you can play it, as well as the superb MotionPlus controls, the Wii version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 is easily the best one. MotionPlus is a definite must-have in order to get the most out of the game, though."

"Last year's version was phenomenal, but the option to use the Wii MotionPlus accessory makes Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 the most authentic sports video game I've every played."

"Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 for Wii is the definitive golf game. It's filled to the top with content, sports spectacular controls enhanced by MotionPlus, and includes great Disc Golf and online modes. Seriously, this is an amazing package made all the better by the peripheral pack- in."

"Tiger Woods 10 for the Wii is as close as you can get to a golf course without paying green fees."

"The Wii MotionPlus definitely makes the game. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 might not have been as good of a game without the added control sensitivity and accuracy, but now it has evolved to the point that I can't imagine another golf game without it."

"Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on the Wii breathes new life into the franchise. Everybody golf clap, Tiburon has created a very robust, non-boring golf game where sim meets sport in a scalable experience. WiiMotionPlus brings unparalleled immersion to a game brimming with content, and this Wii title earns its place among the greats as the Tiger game golf fans have to own."

"Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 will be the reference for all the future games of the genre. Comparing it to other titles is impossible, due to the innovation and the possibilities implemented by the WiiMotion Plus. In addition there are a lot of options, the only downside being the graphics (good but no great). The WiiMotion Plus had convinced many critics, but now it appears absolutely essential."

"Tiger Woods 10 with the motion plus, control wise, is really a leap forward in the genre that every fan of this sport should try. But keep in mind that without the new peripheral, the game is just a nice revision of the previous year version, in pure EA-style."

"While the PS3 and 360 versions have a substantial aesthetic edge, the Tiger 10 Wiilease is easily the most realistic of the three, allowing players of all abilities to seamlessly enjoy a proper round of golf or a party game together, proof - if ever any was needed - that with some considered creative design, inclusion on the Wii doesn't need to involve dumbing everything down for the benefit of the lowest common denominator."

"With excellent controls, a good amount of modes and a great gameplay experience, this Wii version scores better than its competitors. It's the best golf sim to date."

"I honestly never thought I'd see the day where I would recommend a game on the Wii above its Hi-Def console counterparts, but it's genuinely here."

"In order to really appreciate the game at its fullest, you need to purchase the Bundle with the Wii MotionPlus add-on or obtain it some other way. You can still enjoy the game without the add-on, but you will not be getting the best experience and will envy those who are. Once you start playing it with it, you will wonder how you played any other golf game in the past."

"The latest iteration of the Tiger Woods franchise is as close to golfing perfection as you can come. There is a wealth of content to be found here, the controls work great and the overall atmosphere is great. If you're into golfing in any way this is a must buy."

"Wii MotionPlus delivers once more, turning the solid but flawed game into probably the best golf sim ever."

"Casual players might prefer to stick to its Wii Sports equivalent, but PGA Tour 10 is undoubtedly the definitive golf videogame for fans of the sport, offering a level of control and nuance that hasn't been achieved before in sports games."

There. Happy?

That's a lot for nothing. None of these state the wii-version has more precise or better controls. Do you know why ? Because the wii-mote cannot be as precise as a pad.

Oh shit. Why can't anyone admit they were wrong for once on these forums?

You asked for reviews stating the HD versions had worse controls, Majin showed you a ton, now just admit it, Tiger Woods 10 on Wii has better controls than the HD version according to reviewers.

Come on, it's not that hard.

Unless all of these reviews are from Wii only sources then yes they do.

I would also ask you what makes you certain the Wii-mote can't be as precise as a pad and have you played the game?

It's funny but i found the shadow effects awesome!!!

Maybe im playing a different game? hahah

Stupid reviewers!!

I wonder if he knew he could adjust the Wiimote volume if he finds the sounds coming from it so annoying.
And if he found the shadows effects lacking in the Wii version I guess one look at the PS2 version will make his head explode. I don't get how the shadows could be that horrible though, from what I've seen I think it looks really good. Oh well.

Because they aren't, it's some of the nicest lighting effects I've seen and the shadows even play into some puzzles.

The lighting is perfect since its trying to give you the feeling you're surrounded by darkness, and that you're alone and confused, then you hear something and you start pointing your flashlight towards different things going "WTH was that?" it started freaking me out, so I'm guessing its doing its job right.  It especially does this at the beginning of the game when you're not sure when the monsters are going to pop out of no where.

You have 1 flashlight in Silent Hill and thats pretty much 89% of the time so if shadows look terrible it ruins athmosphere and experience.

What trolling??Thats their opinion! Why would you decide what should be liked and what hated.
6.5 is pretty avarage with Silent Hill.

Yeah, the flashlight is incredibly important to the game.

That's why IGN's review described the flashlight mechanics in Silent Hill: SHattered Memories as being the best in any game, ever.

It's not the opinion that pisses people off. It's the lies and ignorance that are used to justify the opinion.

I like how Gh0st4lifE begged me to find a review saying Wii controls are better, outright denied that they did when I listed about 20 examples, and then when I went out of my way to bold the most obvious ones he ran off with his tail between his legs.

I'm not being sarcastic here, I genuinely like this feeling I'm feeling right now.

That's like marrying someone for money... Oh wait...

How much of those games get resold compared to the HD games? If it's a low ratio, that explains it.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
