That's actually my most liked ending in any video game so far :)

The whole story in terranigma is perfect, but the end is an actual shocker. You destroy everything that was Ark's childhood that was created from Dark Gaia's influence.

I love the ending credits in which Ark's transformed into a gullwing in order to see the world he helped to bring back to life.

terranigma is one of my favorite games.ive had a terranigma theme on my comp for many years. i had the same back ground for over a year. when i decided to change it my comp froze.

Your computar was very fond of Terranigma as well :P I love the entire series, from SoulBlazer to Illusion of Gaia to Terranigma, but Terranigma is in fact one of the best RPG's ever created.

I love the battle system, the story, the way that your actions affect the development of the cities, the way that you could string some magics together with the Rings and Magiroks, everything about the game was perfect xD
Well, maybe except for the Zombie Town in the middle of the desert of Mongolia >_< I lost two whole days trying to figure out what to do and how to get past those annoying ghosts... T_T

Are you my twin brother? o_O

I loved Gransteam Saga, it's on my top 10 games of all time! I love the story in that game, going from town to town with the Tower searching for the continents and activating all the four stones that the Wise mean constructed on each, to avoid them sinking into the ocean, it was super awesome, my favourite continent and overall area was the Aquas Continet :D

Also the battle system was very good, it was very free flowing, and I loved string the magics and using all the different weapon and shield types.

The ending was very sad too, with such a huge epic boss battle against Hades before it :D

I'm still crying about silent hill.... there are not good endings

The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening.

As I played the game, I got a little attached to the townsfolk who lived on that island. When I found out that the island is a dream and the only way to leave the island is to end that dream and erase everything/everybody in it, I was sad. It stands out as one of the few games that can evoke an emotional response without a massive amount of storytelling and cutscenes.

Basically, I like any game that can't be described as the second part in this quote."I like a game where the gameplay and story goes hand in hand, but in a JRPG, the gameplay and storytelling is kept on either sides of an iron fence...made of lions" - Yatzee

Don't you mean they are not happy endings?  I figure the ending must be good to get you to react on an emotional level.

the saddest game ending for me would be Super Mario RPG, because the game was over and I wanted more.

For me it was cod 4

Not the saddest endings, but I felt pretty sad at the end of Sakura Wars 3. Since I had really gotten attached to the Paris Hanagumi and the relationships Ogami had developed with the various characters especially with the girl you choose. Then he leaves and has to say goodbye to everyone.
