Really is that comment needed?

Anyway I have played it, its an alright brawler, it's not as easy as most beat em ups today so it feels a bit like a throw back.  I really wish I had the chance to play it with someone else, it might have turned out to be a bit more fun.

I agree.   They lost sight of who their audience really was.   A Saturday Cartoon look/feel would have served them better.   The internet crowd is very vocal but also a very small portion of Wii gamers.

I think Capcom realized this even before release (probably due to some market testing) which is why the price was cut within 2-3 weeks.   They knew they'd missed their mark.

If you have any interest in Spyborgs, it is only $10 (USD) at Gamestop.

This is half the price of last week -- and an 80% reduction in the release price of $50 about three months ago.

The game's modest sales (currently 30k in North America)  moved it from high-end to bargain sales price point within a few weeks of release. Now it appears to be at close-out.

What I wonder, if Capcom had not listened and instead released the game as it was shows in the original trailers, would it have been better off? I certainly think so because it gave up style and humor -- which seems to work on the Wii -- for firepower.

Then again, I sometimes wonder if Capcom intentionally had this title do poorly to provide it with an excuse not to do Wii work. That almost sounds like something the North American unit would do.

Y'know, I'm not sure what makes you suspect this from the publisher that's bringing us RE: DSC, Monster Hunter 3, and most of all, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, a title which I never thought would leave Japan.

Capcom might not be backing the Wii as heavily as some third parties, but I wouldn't accuse them of slacking at this point.

That is why I made the snarky comment. But I don't believe it at this point.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I don't think he actually has a lot of pull within Capcom. He seems too busy gabbing with people outside the company to do much talking inside the company.

And then there's how other Capcom staff contradict him from time to time...

You've got a long history of "expressing your opinion" and you seem to like to shoehorn in "oh yeah the Wii has shovelware" whenever you can.

I really don't see that much Capcom bashing, a bit of Sven bashing yes, who has proven himself unreliable as a mouthpiece for Capcom, and thats the basis for the OPs theory.

Overall the discussion in this thread has kept to the topic, a few theories about why the game didn't perform well, some comments about Sven, and discussion of Capcoms hit and misses this year, people discussing the bad reviews and changes to the game.  Which are true, the game was a budget title from the get go, selling at 40 dollars, no ads, no marketing, and at face value it has a bad cover as well IMO which is bad for selling someone on a game even at budget pricing.  All apart of good discussion.
