Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Why Xbox 360 is losing appeal to new customers.

@nightsurge : no, wrong. Here in Europe, like I told earlier, 360 costs around 120 euros (arcade models) and PS3 249 euros, yet PS3 sells a lot more. Fact.

Maybe we should wonder why. PS3 just has a lot more value.

I never said arcade.  Perhaps you should read without those goggles?  I said the main model which is the Elite and was the Pro.  And if you want to try and spin things that way, look at the US/Americas.  The 360 still sells the same or more as the PS3 even though the 360 costs so much more after all the required upgrades!  Amazing!  A $500 360 outselling a $300 PS3!!! GASP!

Does anyone remember Playstation 3's first year? When I imagine most of you as well as most of the gaming press absolutely slated the Playstation 3 because..."it arrived late".

You praised the consistently dying and god awful 360 for coming out in late 2005 why exactly? If anything that showed Microsoft's failure with the original Xbox.

Still, with all that bad press, the Playstation 3 sold 8-10 million in it's first year, under the incredible flack it was taking left right and centre.I would say that it was taking as bad a rep as the 3DO back in the early 90's,if not worse.
Yet it sold that much, because it was a Playstation console. Thus that is power of the Playstation brand.
It's iconic,15 years they've been around consistently selling.Their controllers are iconic, never changing always there for the person who knows those controllers like the back of their hand after playing with one in the last generation.

Xbox FAILS because it's a weaker brand than Playstation. That's it in a nutshell.

For years I've talked, argued and generally debated over games with thousands of people online. The one thing that has been made clear in all of my discussion is that 8/10 of the people I talk to say they wanted a PS3 over the 360 or Wii they had already, but it was just the price putting them off.

As the PS3 continues to get cheaper, you'll find the 360 failing to keep it back, and fall to third place.
Then I will be profoundly happy if Microsoft gets the message, and f*cks off.

Keep talking and losing credibility. Microsoft doesn't feel the need to buy out every great 3rd party they see like Sony. They fund the gaming and make deals with them so they can go about their business after the work is done. Sony has had three generations to purchase a fleet of third party. If Microsoft bought seventeen first party companies, they would have Sony by the balls. Look at how many first party companies Microsoft has right now and they can put up a fight. If you don't believe me, think about the wall of games Microsoft would have if they had over seventeen first party companies making games for them. Microsoft surprised even me this gen and if it wasn't for them I probably wouldn't have bought a console until 2008-2009 period. Sony and Nintendo have barely done anything for a gamer like me. Sure Sony won the hearts of the tech nerds early on but i'm a gamer.

@nightsurge : no, wrong again. According to recent numbers, PS3 sold a lot more than 360 even in NA (see black friday numbers on first page ;) )

While the cheaper 360 is still a lot cheaper than the cheaper PS3...

360 lost a lot of appeal for me because i've red ringed 3 times, so I started buying all my multiplatform games on ps3. I'll never get rid of my 360 because they have halo, but aside from reach, crackdown 2, and splinter cell, 360 really doesn't mean anything to me next year.

Yeah, one week.

It's also nice to see this alt account is none other than the infamous Tim_Duncan (remember Tim_Duncans_Mom? LOL), Tony_Parker, Manu_Ginobili, and all those others.  You really do need to find something else to do with your time then troll the 360 and wonder why you keep getting banned, Tony.

So..... you're attributing this to what? Ever thought that Sony was the only system that had large pent up demand that had been waiting three years. Next year their sales will level out and then Europe will give the PS3 a sales boost when GT5 comes out. You're acting like Microsoft and Sony dropped their prices at the same time. This isn't case as Microsoft and Nintendo have already satisfied demand and are selling steadily. It's just that Sony is selling very well because they finally did one right thing this gen.

My fail, I read his post so quickly I thought he meant overall (which would be silly).

It's simple MS invested all their money in stealing Sony's exclusives and paying off devs for timed exclusive and to lie about it, but now that all the timed exclusive are on ps3 combined with the fact Sony has made new IP after new IP the 360s exclusives list sucks compared to the ps3 not to mention the failrate is still an issue and the now banning anything that has been modded in any way to increase sales, the only real advantage MS had was it's timed exclusive and the fact it was cheaper in stores now that it has neither it's seen for what it is a waste of money
