Samurai Warriors 3 had four skus. The problem with that approach is you know people want the game at a fairly high confidence, but you don't know which package they want necessarily. Seems like they under supported the popular packages and over supported the less popular packages. Ultimately it is a pretty good debut for the game with the three super debuts of the week. It would probably add another 50k-200k with a western release as well, should end up fairly profitable.

Retailers did the same thing with Monster Hunter 3, backed the wrong sku.

Wii - 101000

Wii at 101k?  That is bullshit and we all know it.  Famitsu made a mistake.

All the Mario fans already had a Wii, so there's no way NSMB Wii could boost hardware.

I expect a retraction from Enterbrain some time today.

Oh no, you see, the hardware boost is from Poképark Wii. Pokémon fans never had a good reason to buy a Wii until now, and if you add 44k and 57k together you get 101k

Ohhhhh... Ok.  That explains it!  :P

Almost 1 million for NSBW in just three day sales.. not bad for a game that will be a "evergreen" title for years so come.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

I find it strange that they have Pokemon listed as the published For Pokepark.

Is the Pokemon Company considered a publisher in Japan?

Yeah, The Pokemon Company directly publishes all Pokemon games in Japan, not Nintendo.  TPC also handled some western releases, but they were non-Nintendo console/handheld stuff like the Pokewalker or Pokemon Mini system & games.

Pretty amazing sales.  Mario's increase from first day is still staggering.  PSP2, Gundam Vs Next+ and Sengoku Musou 3 got modest gains, I expect all 3 to continue selling the next few weeks.  Okay debut for Pokepark, but I think it'd have been better off launching alongside Mario.

I still can't believe Wii cracked 100k.  Stunning DS numbers, solid sales for PSP & PS3, and nice to see 360 taking it's rightful place ahead of GO.  How much more of that first 150k shipment do we have left again?

If its just a little over 100k it wont be enough for the Wii to "win" this christmas . FF13 boost will be bigger. It could happen that PS3 2009 Japan>Wii 2009 Japan and that would be massive. I never heard of a third place console which managed to outsell for a year the leader in one region. Has Saturn ever outsold Playstation 1 in Japan ? The NSMBWII boost have to have big legs so Japan will fall to Wii.

I think he is Crazzyman.

I think your kind of paranoia is pretty sad.

What he said may be a bit optimistic in favor of the PS3, but in no way lunatic/"crazzy" as this years battle for Japan is very very close.

very good for Ps3!!!!

the best RPG's are coming 2013 !!!! oh my god, this is perfect for RPG-GAMER = ) Ni No Kuni - 25 january, Time and Eternity, tales of xillia (PS3) and the maybe best game ever: metal gear solid ground zero

I didn't expect Wii to hit 100k so you are wrong sir!

Seriously though, that is great for Wii, excellent boost from Mario and all. Next week (numbers) usually see Wii sales jump due to holiday bump so will be v interesting to see if this week's bump was short term (in whch case, Wii HW will be very close to this week's) or if they will jump like in 07 and 08 and get close to 150k. I don't predict so I won't predict...

PS3 did great with no big releases (which is odd but hey, Wii flew off shelves for ages without significant releases either...).

Elaine: I will never understand people

Jerry: They're the worst.

After this week PS3's ~200k behind Wii ytd in Japan iirc.  Even with the FFXIII impact coming, I don't think they'll be able to manage beating Wii given Nintendo's historical holiday lifts.

Saturn did outsell PS1 initially (thank you Virtua Fighter 1/2), but the PS3/Wii grudge match this year reminds me mostly of PSP/DS in 2007.  PSP also resurged that year thanks to a slim redesign and Final Fantasy game, and nearly beat out a (declining) DS for the year.  It also perfectly matches the timelines (3 years from launch for each).

Nice numbers for PS3 and Wii.
