Xenogears easily has the most amazing story of all games I've played, and without sacrificing the gameplay. I wonder when (if) we will see such an epic again.

Xenogears had a huge amount of potential, but was marred by some very deep flaws. The second disc is perhaps the most commonly-cited problem, but personally, I find Calamity to be even more egregious.



Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

Without Xenogears and Perfect Works, and Xenosaga which is largely based off of Xenogears Perfect Works; most of the cool things in that newer Battlestar Galactica series wouldn't exist, they copied lots from the Xenoverse.

I don't think the newer Battlestar Galactica intentionally took anything from the Xenoverse

I'm so glad to see so much love for this game. I have been trying to get my roommates and other people to play it so they can understand how amazing a game it is. Now I really want to play it again for like 5th time, but I need to resist. Too many other games to play.

Indeed! I have a loonnnggg list of stuff to play before I play this game again, but I have a feeling I'll fold in a few months and end up playing it anyways.
