FF XIII will be absolutely fine - it is very early days yet for all of these games, things can (and will) change dramatically once the holidays are over and we move into the new year, advertising campaigns ramp up, store preorder incentives start and so on. Games that are doing especially well at the moment are those with betas or some kind of preorder incentive.

That said, GOW III has a good shot at half a million plus opening, about on par with GOW II.

Thank you very much

they are not comparable

that was near resistance 2's release

the FF13 billboard was 9 months before its release

S-E was just saying "yeah look at our $$$.....we'r gonna market this game so much"

Effective Marketing works, PS3 slim, Halo 3, MW2, Assassins Creed 1 have proven this

Ofcourse withotu quality effective marketing won't work, but FF13 has that too

Reach starts its climb to the top.

Not really, no.

But then, it's almost a year away.

Resistance in NA is that small compared to FF in NA though... so... yeah...

Tell ya what since your not gonna bite on the bet I'll put this argument on hold and see you after the new year and look how FF will do then.

...i'm sorry i didnt realize the all powerful ioi is omnipresent and can see into the future and has preorder numbers from 13 weeks into the future. /arguement... not really... unless you want me to bring up when he was off on his estimations.. which happen quite a lot but that would really de-rail the thread.

This whole thread has been with 3-4 users..I hate it.(I usually don't read replys to replys to replys)

I'm suprised that Bayonetta,Bad Company 2 and Dante's Inferno are doing better on Ps3 version.

Take my love, take my land..

As a final nail to your coffin on FF13 kantor

check pre order sales for all the major UK gaming retailers: (as UK & american markets are similar this is a valid comparison)

GAME:

pre-order chart:

http://www.game.co.uk/Default.aspx/Games/_/N-1z13fvfZ1z13f85

Basically not counting the jan & feb releases

Battlefield is first & FF13 second

thats is with Battlefield having a beta, a very good one at that & FF13 having nothing but a japanese trailer lately

next

Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/new-releases/videogames/ref=pd_nr_zgc_vg_h__video_games_display_on_website_more?pf_rd_p=467646873&pf_rd_s=right-8&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=300703&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=09P45NMQTW9SGRG5769F

FF13 (PS3) is the ONLY GAME in the top 10 that releases in march, the rest are dec/jan/feb games. Battle Field Bad COmpany doesn't chart over FF13 here

HMV:

http://hmv.com/hmvweb/comingSoon.do?ctx=-1;6;-1;-1;-1&pGroupID=6&pSubGroupID=-1&pGenreID=-1&pTertiaryID=-1&primaryID=6&subPrimaryID=-1&secondaryID=-1&tertiaryID=-1&WT.ac=highlights_games_111108_comingsoon

FF13 is on the first page....but they are not ranked, but its definetely "popular" in the coming soon category

Gamestation:

http://www.gamestation.co.uk/

FF13 xbox 360 is on the pre orders chart

once again I dunno if they are ranked. the PS3 version can't be too far behind

Play.com:

http://www.play.com/Games/Games/6-/PreOrderChart.html

FF13 is in the top 10 AHEAD of Battlefield Bad COmpany (WTF is GT5 doing so high?)

anyway as the american & UK markets are similar we can conclude FF13 is absolutely fine

So it isn't going to be on top?

People are just concetrating in buying the 2009 titles now, and those who are pre-ordering by now are just the dedicated fanbase every franchise has. Like ioi said, the Gow Collection are just "activating" Gow dedicated fanbase earlier.

beating baby seals.. how sad that it had to come to that.
