Forums - Sony - How will the PS3 do in 2008 when its "big guns" (GT5, MGS, etc.) come out?

 plus that's making the strange presumption of 100% brand loyalty which is completely rediculous, which ever system has the most games and best word of mouth wins that's all their is too it

Personally, I believe that expecting further price reductions on the PS3 in 2007 or 2008 is unrealistic. Sony has said that they're losing money on the 40GB model, and it has been suggested that Sony may be losing as much (or more) on the 40GB model as they were on the 60GB PS3 at launch; I would expect Sony to reduce the cost on the PS3 so that it was profitable (or at least only has a minimal loss) before they reduce the price again.

  MS and Sony both have used 3% as the industry standart for console failures.  Your a fanboy this smell like a troll thread, it should be closed.

 I said half of them could(notice how i wrote could) buy the 40GB without BC... half is 50% not 100%

well they said they dont expect to obtain profatability til late 2008 going into 2009..  they also said in their next report losses might double for their game division which leads me to  believe they might cut prices just a lil more.. or you could be right they probably are losing out on the spiderman 3 bundled system.. but the fact that they left the 80 and 40 gb bunlded are the reasons i think they might cut prices..

Unfortunately, Sony was faced with a class action lawsuit because the PS2's disc read error was far beyond a 3% failure rate ... There is a reason why you see (pretty much) every console ever created at a garage sale except for the Playstation and PS2

I think that with the release of PS3's big guns, their sales should spike momentarily. However, it will be short lived as I believe that most of the people that are looking to play these games already have a PS3. I am not sure if there are a lot of people like me that are still holding out for these games.

I see the ps3 doing amazing in 2008, you guys would jaw drop. Japan sales should increase drasticly with dyansty warriors bundle. Maybe as high as 50k before the holiday. 1. Are you sure? We've been saying that with HS, Lair, and now Ratchet only gets 97k (not saying that's bad, it'a just if the PS3 was more successfulit'd have done better). Can we REALLY say that when the time comes?

2. Not really. The Wii is basically dominating in Europe except Spain and somewhere else (France or Italy?) is "Sony land" (well, sorta, it's not selling A LOT better than the Wii/360, but it'd doing better).

3. We have to see. Remember, PS2 BC is gone. How far will the 40 GB go?


Im not comparing it to wii sales soriku, im comparing it to 360 sales. The wii should easily take the holiday season, but afterwards its uncertain.

PS3: 22M

360: 25M

Um, haven't we learned our lesson on release dates? Nobody can say with any certainty what will be released in the latter half of 2008. Anything with a Fall/Winter 2008 release date probably has less than a 50% chance of coming out in 2008.
