Forums - Sony - Idea: PSN.PC

  • New feature to the Playstation brand
  • Delivers computer gaming in a small, cheap, efficient manner
  • Similar to platforms like Yahoo!Games or Steam

The idea is simple. The gaming industry in the last few years began to see the viability of two major trends: Game download platforms and time-waster games.

Create a platform, and distribute the best of the best, all the while promoting the playstation brand by creating smaller versions of ps3 and psp games.

For example, a solitaire game featuring the lovely ladies of God of War, or one of those "escape the room" point and click games featuring Raiden of Solid Snake where the room is some kind of high tech cell or abandoned compound. More a fan of tower defense? How about TwistedMetal's "Calypsos proving ground" in which you create towers that throw powerups into an arena in the eventual goal of everybody killing themselves off!

Anyway, I know that the Nintendo fans would say something like "Sony:always playing catchup", and Sony fans might be just horrified with the idea of their favorite characters being whored out to casual gaming, but it's a highly developed, tried and tested feature that would help Sony both move into the digital age, reinforce PSPGo! sales, and provide a huge source of income.

Let me know what you guys think.

YES!

also it would be free to download online. It would be just like Steam or Acer Arcade.

Yeah and they should also have a PS2 emu, and basically start selling ps2 games for PC via their service. Ofc they should also have that on PS3... but there is no reason not to do it on PC, since the emu tech is already there and Sony could fix up the compatibility even more.

intresting
first i want all PS1 & PS2 games on the PSN store but yeh im all for them reaching out to the PC with a service like Steam

great idea, i love playing casual games on the psp, tower wars FTW, i want more games like creature defense

I like the idea of having "retro" playstation titles on there. You don't want to have content that would compete with the main PS3 stuff.

Not a bad idea.  I'm a pretty big PC guy, so if something like this were available, I would probably get it.

I approve

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

They might as well release this on PSN Store as well.

And isn't this basically what PSP Minis is?
