Forums - Gaming - No More Heros is a great game but..

Because of the recent announcement about No More Heros porting to PS3 and 360, I got interested in the game and started to checking the trailer.  The game seemed quite interesting.  I hoped at least PS3 version would use the new motion controller, but this was clearly stated by the publisher not the case.

So I recalled that I actually own Wii, and decided to grab the Wii version because this game really seemed to be fun if played with motion control.  Well my take on the game is this is really great game.  One of the best non-fitness Wii game.  The problem I have, though is lack of response and the motion control is only utilized during the finish move. Why not throughout the game?

Anyone feels the same way about this game?

I thought the use of Motion Control fit perfect for this game, especially the wresting moves.

The lack of Motion Control for the PS3/360 versions will definitely make the experience less engaging, but I believe they will overall still be good.

Also my favorite game on the Wii, beat it 9 times. :P

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

Because if it was used for all of the moves it would just be an annoying waggle fest. Using it to accent attacks I think was a far better use, than having to shake you hand non stop for thirty minutes at a time. By punctuating your attacks it puts the physical emphasis on the most spectacular parts. Suda did it better than anyone else has.

I think it will be less engaging on the PS3, but I'm still going to get it, just to support the series, see it in HD, and get some trophies. Travis Touchdown is my favorite new character that this generation has produced. January is going to be an awesome month for action games with both Bayonetta and No Mores Heroes 2 coming out.

True, but I feel like that's something I want to play when the game is made for Motion Control.  The ideal would be give an option.  One of which is one to one mapping of the players action for actual attack moves.  Who knows, by the time we finish the game, we might be ready to get a black belt in light savor.

Go play Something like...what was that game...dragon blade I think it was. It was an action beat 'em up on wii that used motion for every attack. You could swing up for vertical slices, left, right, ect. Was fun for the first 30 minutes, egregiously unfun after that. What you realize is that there is little point in actually swinging the remote, so you just sit there and shake it when it's time to attack. Utterly pointless, and you certainly don't learn how to use a light saber. Suda saw the flaw in this waggle fighting, and found a way to incorporate motion control without it just turning into a pointless waggle fest. And kudos to him for that.

I'm playing it right now, and the controls are great. My complaint about no more heroes is the unpolished environments. Some places have decent textures and lots of details, but a lot don't. From the looks of it, the second one looks a lot better.

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

Personally i think that the use of motion control was ok, hoping for new moves in Desperate Struggle though

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

I wasn't a big fan of the game. The bosses were pretty crazy and hilarious, but the amount of grunts you had to grind through to get to each boss was a pain, especially since the combat system was basically A, A, A, Swing. It was a button masher with a bit of motion tossed on at the end. The overworld was basically empty, too.

The game was 8 boss fights with a bunch of tedious filler.

The actual combat was fun, the bosses were extremely cool, and the town of Santa Destroy sucked. Get rid of the overworld and you have a much better game.

Sweet, another excuse to troll No More Heroes!

In all seriousness, I would have enjoyed it if there were more than three types of enemies, if the levels had more variety in what you could do, and if the overworld was streamlined/non-existent. Mowing gas to get to the next fight was mildly amusing the first time, but it quickly got old, and there wasn't a whole lot to DO.

The bosses were fun and interesting though, even if I wish they either let you have more moves to use against them or gave them less health (they got tedious after a while, especially the final boss).
