According to Sony themselves there losing money on the PS3 but there either breaking even or making profit in the Playstation division. Its there other electronics thats bringing it down so much.

NFreak said: You're forgetting the money Sony spends on advertising, the money they pay their employees, the money they lose on the high failure rate of the console, tax, and the loads of money they lose because of the low currency exchange rate of the weak yen. Not to mention the fact that you chose to use a week that was inflated due to natural holiday increases, which is by all means *not* an average week for Sony. Besides that, yes, Sony should be turning profits soon, but it will be awhile (if ever) before Sony makes up for the massive losses that the PS3 has posted so far. |
lol, you should make some real research instead of bashing over something better than most companies in electronic products.

agreed
Sony went for bleeding edge technology and way to many risks at a single time.
That's how. They could have taken the Wii approach and just do small tweaks to the system and called it PlayStation 3, but the Playstation loyalist don't want that and never accept that (PSP Go and PSX stand up and say hello)
I think this quarter is going to be a test. the PS3 is into year 4, and if it post a massive lost this quarter on these increases sales, you have to wonder what their strategy here for long term viability. M$ will drop prices on the 360 next year, and with the catalyst launch of Natal...this could be a repeat of 2008...which would mean another painful cut to salvage 2011...in the face of new console launches.
Sony is losing money in gaming, and on the slim, and won't make a profit in gaming until the end of FY 2010 (so early 2011 calendar)
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

It'll take a little while for the software and accessories to off set any losses to the system itself.

Im sure you would like it. But your pretty unlucky because it doesnt seems that this is what will happen. Im not going to argue longer than that because considering how much biase you are I would greatly lose my time.

Um....doesn't FY 2010 end in March 2010? I'm pretty sure that it does.
