Sonic always tried to look badass, even in the mega-drive/genesis games, look how ''rude'' and ''bad'' he looks here. Remember Sega used to describe him as ''the blue dude with the 'tude''

Sonic's first look is just wierd to me, I like the SSBB look the best.

Agreed.  The Genesis was the best IMO as it was the most friendly and the one most in touch with what Sonic's creator(s) wanted.

As an amusing note, is it just me or could one measure the quill droopage to determine Sonic's age in game time?

Give the original Sonic two big round ears and ta daah! You've got a blue Mickey Mouse clone! He even has the same gloves... euhm Mario has them too hehe. My opinion is you either love gloved creatures or hate them. A little bit like Michael Jackson. But sadly for Sonic he's not the king.

Seriously he looks too chubby on the first and I agree he looks best in the games featuring the chubbier italian plummer.

I will always view the original Sonic look, to be the greatest of them all. All others just don't have that same, nostalgic, retro, Sega vibe, that the original has.

Sonic has nothing against Mario. Mario's 2d games were far superior. All you had to do in Sonic was just run rght and you'd finish the level. And when you had to jump in the actual platform bits, you would only die because the jump animation and timing sucked.

Again in 3d Mario kicks Sonics arse. For pretty much the same reasons. And not to forget Marios level design wiped the floor with Sonics from Sonic 1 to now.
