Forums - Sales - What other system sellers does Microsoft have until Natal?

Alan Wake, ME2 and Conviction will be minor system sellers. Nothing major like GoW3 or GT5 until Halo Reach at the end of the year, I don't think.

"major like GoW3'? Alan Wake will outsell God of War 3 and outscore it on Metacritic. Neither of the games will sell noticebly many systems in their launch weeks, but In the long run Alan Wake will be at least as important as God of War 3 in attracting new console buyers.

You're not serious.

A new IP where a guy kills zombies with a flashlight (while it may be fantastic) is not going to outsell a God of War game.

Don't take it Kantor, the odds aren't in your favour.

I'd be willing to make a bet on first week sales.

GoW3 > DI PS3...maybe even DI combined.

I'd say Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and..........Halo: Reach? (not sure when Reach or Natal's coming out). Not sure if many people are into Fable so I'd see Crackdown 2 having a better chance of being some form of system seller than Fable III.

Alan Wake is no more a system seller than Heavy Rain is. Just because a game looks good does not mean that it will sell systems. GT5, Halo 3, FF XII, GTAIV, etc. are system sellers. Alan Wake is not.

That's where you're wrong, though.  Microsoft has been saying lately how their upcoming games like Alan Wake are going to be advertised and promoted like a Hollywood Movie production.  If they can make the game look amazing and awesome in advertisements, and get those everywhere, that will definitely push systems.

Also, the way I see it, Mass Effect 2 will have about the same system seller affect as Uncharted 2.  Their first counterparts sold pretty close to the same amount, and if there is a bundle, I think many people will pick up a 360 to get both Mass Effect games just like many new PS3 owners got the Uncharted 2 bundle and Uncharted 1.

Also, I agree with everyone that says God of War 3 will not be a system seller.  I mean, the game is a very niche hit.  Even with all it's acclaim, God of War 2 only sold ~2.5 million when the PS2 userbase was like 100 million+

...in 2007.

How many games which launch after their console's successor break 2.5 million?

Re-fixed.

Rule 8: Flamebait and Trolling

  • Do not call a game that is not exclusive an exclusive. This is considered trolling. This includes PC and console multiplats. For full details on this read this topic. Mods will be lenient about accidentally mislabeling a game you were uninformed about to some extent, but know what you are posting about. Repeat offenses of this will result in moderation.
