ssj12 said: how do you play blackout? anyways, he actually has a point on Wii sales but said it the wrong way. The Wii appeals to more family oriented people. 5 people on my block has a Wii. Do they plan on buying any other titles other then Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Music, WiiFit or any other Wii titled games. Nope. They all love my PS3 but they wont buy it because they would only use the multimedia features because the PS3 doesnt have family games yet. Not that its to expensive. Just the game line-up. They also all said LBP really interests them. Ratchet and Clank is a game they would let their kids paly once their kids get above the age of 12. Now heres another thing that makes it show that Wii, yes has a ton of Nintendo;s core fanbase that loves metroid, mario etc, but is widely purchased more by more then gamerrs like the Wii owners here. My 83 year old grandmother bought a Wii. She never even played Pong back in the day and she buys a Wii. Now doesnt that speak volumes? Now can we get back to the purtpose of this thread, this discussion is way off topic. This is about how SOny is doiing a great job advertising the PS3 and it's games finally. |
Wait so you are doing a hit and run? You state your peace and then change the topic? Thats pretty lame man. But honestly I have had this argument so many times I am willing to let it go, just wanted to point that out. I don't think thats quite what you intended to do to be fair, but if you plan on telling others to drop an issue you shouldn't start by giving your opinion on it.
@topic,
As I have said before, the Ad itself, is good and it will sell consoles far better than the previous ad did. I do however think that they could benefit greatly from targeting the female demographic a bit more. Generally speaking guys are willing to like anything the girls like (within limits of course) and in serious relationships women generally have the guy whipped on the wallet. Its a stereotype sure but they aren't funny cause they're wrong..they're funny cause they're right.
Obviously they shouldn't be appealing to the female crowd to the exclusion of their core demographic, but rather they should be looking for something that guys want to play but might feel the need to use the "its for my girlfriend/wife" excuse. I'm sure actual professionals can come up with way better ads than I can but I think I got the point across. Hell they could actually use that as the commericial.
A guy walks into a store and buys a PS3 and <insert game name> and the cashier gives him a look....he gulps and says "Its for my girlfriend" and they cut to him playing the game by himself....then a second later have him joined by his girlfriend who is suddenly very interested in this new game and shoehorns her way in stealing the control and brushing him aside so she can play. You can do follow up ads with a "the tables have turned" type approach where the guy is trying to talk to his girlfriend but she is engrossed in a game and not responding...etc...
Well like I said I am sure a pro can do better but its not horrible.
