Forums - Gaming - what tv do you game on? *i need a change of pants*

52" Samsung LCD 750 series, had a 56" Samsung DLP before that. Gaming on HDTV is sweet.

Yeah, and I have to say that while it looks better than SD, it isn't anything great.

Its a Samsung 32 inch 1080p tv. ln32b530. Everything is nicer, however, ps3 games and blu ray discs look very blurry. Playing Killzone 2 on that TV is horrible, everything looks extremely washed out and blurred. LBP also just AWFUL. When playing on SD Killzone 2 was sexier.

Can anyone help me out here?

I know I don't have a bad tv, however the image is very poor in comparison to other users stating games are beatiful on HD.

My family has a 108 inch custom tv, it isnt a lcd but a rear projection. It is 1080p, my parents put in about 45000 into it!! The worst part they wont let me use it for games :( We only use it for their tv shows and for movies. But they did buy me a pioneer Kuro 60 inch! :) and surrond sound.

You must be really rich.....

In my house we have a 47" plasma, 46" LCD, 32" LCD, and an old 64" SDTV. I can't stand watching on the SDTV and I think LCD's have a much better picture than Plasma's. Could just be the brands though.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

I've had my HD TV for about 5 days now and I miss SD. Most of the channels I watch are in SD and they look blurry and awful. I also dislike playing me Wii on this thing. I can't get a setting where Wii Sports Resort and New Super Mario Bros. Wii don't look so pale and jagged.

What kind of TV do you have? Certain brands are known for shipping with rubbish presets.  My parents got a 32 inch Samsung a couple of weeks ago and I had to go into the service menu to make the necessary adjustments. It's worth doing a Google search and seeing if you can find some recommended settings. I wouldn't follow them to the letter but often they are a good starting point.

It's a 46" Insignia.

I'm not familiar with that particular TV but if it's bothering you try to do a Google search for recommended settings.

You should be aware though that in certain parameters such as contrast, blacks and natural looking colours, CRTs (which I assume you were using before) are still better than most LCDs.

Also I am assuming you are using component cables and have your Wii set to 480p. (increased clarity but with the side effect that it unmasks the jaggies a little)

I game on my Panasonic 42" Plasma (PZ42800A), beautiful image on screen, especially with HD sources...SD TV channels are ok, but Wii is just horrible...PS3 is awesome though :)

I have the same advice for you as for SmokedHostage.  Do a Google search for recommended settings.  With a popular TV like that you might even be able to get specific recommendations for PS3 settings.

It's pretty similar to the TV my folks got recently and after I went into the service menu and made a couple of adjustments there was a fairly substantial improvement.

SAMSUNG 46" 16:9 4ms 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV LN46B650: In the bedroom.

Panasonic VIERA 54" 1080p Plasma HDTV TC-P54G10: In the gaming room.

SAMSUNG 40" 16:9 6ms 1080p LCD HDTV w/ Touch of Color Design - LN40B550: comp monitor.

I game on the 46/54, but primarily the Panasonic. The samsung 40' is my computer monitor. (all bought from newegg). and yea, I spent a hell of alot of money this/last year on tvs :)

i game on an SDTV, i haven't went into the HDTV era yet, they are freaking expensive

i ordered an hdmi cable to go with my new 720p 32 inch tv and it arrived today, let me just say, without the hdmi cable it looks worse than SD, but when i put that baby in, awww man, i need a change of pants lol.....it looked so beautiful and i should never have played uncharted 2 without an HDTV, so many regrets...why didnt i do this earlier??

so what kind of tv do you guys have?, do you love HDTV's? Do you not care?

Below is my TV. I can't game on anything but HDTVs at this point... unless its a wii game. Those sometimes look worse on a 1080p TV.
