It does make sense, sir.
"Soli Deo gloria" means "Glory to God alone", where "Gloria" is nominative (the subject) and "Soli"("solus") and "Deo"("Deus") are dative ("to God alone"), hence "soli" doesn't mean "sun" in this case.
This is one of the main principles of the Protestant Reformation. It means that only God deserves the glory, in contrast to other beliefs that approve the praise or veneration of "saints", one thousand different "virgins", paintings, sculptures or relics...

There's a thread that has some specific rules but posters decide to blatantly ignore them because they say that those rules suck, although some other posters already respected them and the thread wasn't dead.
What thread am I talking about?

Oh come on, the rules here are not good.
How about this. One person asks a riddle. Whoever gets it asks the next one.
There, 2 sentences, shouldn't take more than fifteen minutes for a new riddle, and doesn't have superfluous rules.
