It does make sense, sir.

"Soli Deo gloria" means "Glory to God alone", where "Gloria" is nominative (the subject) and "Soli"("solus") and "Deo"("Deus") are dative ("to God alone"), hence "soli" doesn't mean "sun" in this case.

This is one of the main principles of the Protestant Reformation. It means that only God deserves the glory, in contrast to other beliefs that approve the praise or veneration of "saints", one thousand different "virgins", paintings, sculptures or relics...
