WHAT...now VGC is accurate...when for years people have been lamblasting it for being off?

Well don't think anyone is going on VGC accuracy, but early estimates is another thing which is what we gave on Saturday.

lol when this guy doesnt mention the ps3 you just know something aint right! obviously theres nothing he can say, we all know why.. anyway sony usually never ever comment on their own sales do they? even after the slim release they hardly mentioned anything about it until a few weeks later.

That's great news for ms.

SONY's numbers are in now aswell -- 440k+ for the US

So we have:

Wii 550k(Nintendo US) - VGC 750k( NA) --- final number will probably be ~650k
360 ~300k(Microsoft US) - VGC 325k(NA) --final number will probably be ~325k
PS3 440k+(SONY US) - VGC ~500k(NA) -- final number will probably be ~500k

Overall i think ioi did an excellent job with his early predictions based of preliminary data, also it will be interesting to see SONY's reaction to be so close to the Wii and beating the 360 (i hope they don't do anything too arrogant/stupid)

First Nintendo masks a relatively underperfoming BF for Wii by "bundling" its sales with DS to give an astounding 1.5 million total (nearly 2/3 of which is DS). Now 360 is celebrating more than 2x previous week's sales and highest week for the year, when in 2008 the week prior to BF was 190K and it did more than 2.5x betterer, and for EVERY console BF week gives highest weekly sales for the year, until pre-Christmas week.

Neither 360 BF achievement (2x previous week, nor biggest week of the year) is particularly note worthy as they are par for the course, to be expected. 2x previous week I would expect to be a minimum target for BF week. Though I'll note that it seems Wii won't get 2x previous week this year, which is partly caused by the NSMB lift the previous week. 360's result will have been dampened by about 50K at least from the Walmart deal.

Nintendo should still be able to claim the win for Wii on BF week vs. PS3 and 360. So that's something at least for Nintendo.

Every company needs to put the best promotional spin on BF sales as possible to build further momentum into December. But those who have access to sales history at their fingertips should not be sucked in to the spin.

The fact is, relative to previous years this BF will be undewhelming for Wii and 360 (only BF week 2006 is looking to be lower for both consoles I think), so 2nd worst BF week of the gen so far is not something to pop the champagne corks on. This time round it's Sony who will have no need to employ the spin doctors for the PS3, but they will need to deploy them for PSP spin, which will be hard.

The best you can say for 360 and Wii is that they can breath a sigh of relief that it wasn't the worst BF week of the generation so far.

Disclaimer: this post assumes the PSWII360 numbers are what they seem to be from the preliminary data. If the final data is significantly different then this post is not liable for any error or omission in its content or conclusions.

sweet good job to all 3 companies. Sales were definitely good for all 3.

Long Live SHIO!

Does anybody think Greenberg is going to get fired? Is M$ doomed...or the 360?

Microsoft needed to release some good sounding news for their stock holders but you have to be concearned if you are MS. Black Friday your big day saw your 360 outsold but the PS3 a system in which you dominate in America. Furthermore you have a 199.99 unit and a 299.99 to compete with WII and PS3 on price and you offered 6 free games with the Arcade and came in third. I can imagine though that they did see great software numbers on BF thanks to a significantly higher user base in America.

NPD November figures will be interesting indeed. PS3 gain in BF week could erase the deficit and put it slightly in front of 360 for the month of November.
X360 still holds more than an 8.5 million lead over the PS3 in the NA region. NA region is unlikely to be reclaimed by PS3, unless the 360 stops selling.
According to the press releases from the three companies the VGC sales estimates seem to be close.
