Forums - Nintendo - Do you think the Final Fantasy MAIN SERIES could come back to Nintendo?

I'll be honest: I don't care for any FF after IX.

Now having that out of the way, I'm sure Square Enix is *dying* to go back to Nintendo's arms ($$$)... but if I remember correctly, Sony has a good chunk of SE stock, so unless they resolve that *problem*, I don't see FF main series coming back home.

I think if it does return to Nintedo, it will be more of a necessity to square rather than an decision.
S-E love to show their flair and skill in the FF games, but if this doesn't make them enough money what option do they have, continue to pump millions of $ into developing new games for little comeback?

At the end of the day S-E are more in love with making a profit than any brand loyalties, I do agree with what others have said though, the FF games are best on the superpowered consoles, They are all about creating impressive fantasy worlds and i personally cant wait to see what they can do with the PS3 and i firly believe that the first FF game for the PS3 will NEED bluray and the HDD.. I remember seeing FFX for the first time and being absolutely flabbergasted by it, almost everything upto that point looked terrible in comparison.

Action based FF spinoffs (and KH) are better suited to the Wii, in my opinion, although id love to see some serious RPG's too, even if i wont be buying them, its good for nintendo.

Oh please. Compare X or XII to any other RPG in the world and you'll find that X and XII were far ahead of the offerings. Just because the rest of the series is amazing, does not necessarily mean that these "mediocre" games are bad. X had an amazing storyline, and if it were not for the crappy voice acting, would've made my top 3 favorite Final Fantasy's. XII was a fresh breath for the series. A walk away from norm but far from "a mediocre offering" Perhaps compared to the rest of the series, but VII, VIII, and IX were some of the best RPG's ever made.

interesting how many people say "SE have lost their vision, their games all suck, I've played them all and they just keep getting worse". The games just get worse and worse yet people are clearly still buying them. I'm sure you'll be spending the $400 it will cost to buy FFXIII when it's released too, so why would SE care about the drop in quality?

Personally, I never liked the series at all, so I couldn't care less what console it went to, but seriously, if the games keep getting worse and worse then why do you keep buying them?

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

I honestly don't care.

Crystal Chronicles looks good...just as good as one of the "main series"...so I don't really care. I don't play many RPGs...so one of the Final Fantasy's will be enough for me.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I don't think this will happen as

FF MAIN SERIES has been about

"Cutting-Edge"

BEFORE YOU ALL SAY - OMG PS2, PS1 were inferior to competitors

I must say the PS2 wasn't AS INFERIOR in "Power" to its competitors as the wii is or WII HD "may be"

as if wii HD will be as if not more powerful than Ps3/360, it will still be far behind what SONY n M$ do next...due to Nintendo's their audience n price restrictions...

I've got nothing against ninty, hell I'm buying a wii next year for SBB

BUT

FF - Main Series has been about cutting edge n power....

It pushed PS1 to limits, it pushed PS2 to its limits

& those "limits" were better than most JRPG's on their competitors systems...

Sales.

Btw guys, you say "FF XIII won't be on Wii, that's for sure", I'm NOT talking about FF XIII. I'm talking about FF XIV and beyond. I know FF XIII is staying PS3, so why would I look at that? I'm looking at future FF main series titles

You should change the title of your posts.

Instead of  "Do you think the Final Fantasy MAIN SERIES could come back to Nintendo?"

You should put "If you don't think Final Fantasy MAIN SERIES should come back to Nintendo, post here and I will try to prove you wrong"

This is the main idea. If you make a question, consider their answers Soriku. I barely enter your threads anymore because I can see your question on the title and I know what you are going to do inside.

You're opinions of FF is making me depressed, but anyway to answer the OP. I would like FF to stay with Sony so I can do all the amazing things they promised with XIII, but eventually they need to go to the platform which will make them the money they want if Sony doesn't do it for them. Going to the 360 would make me even more depressed, though.

They've kind of shot themselves in the foot by making such a well recieved, well loved series; as judging by the comments on here. No one can keep that up for ever.

For XIII it wasn't really a decision, they always knew they were going to make it a PS3 game. I don't know whether the series will move back to Nintendo but I am sure they will be putting some serious thought into it.

Personally I think it might be a good thing, just to give the series a bit of a chance to revamp. I've not been excited for a FF since IX, I haven't liked the boy band styled characters, or much of the art design, although the graphics are still always top notch.

I don't think it will come this gen though, if it does at all. They'll most likely want to concentrate on getting to CC and WiiWare titles established.

Money >> Graphics (pretty boys) >> Gameplay

I'm sure these are the drivers for Final Fantasy games. Afterall, if the past games were all about pushing the best graphics, why weren't they primarily developed for Xbox(1) or PC? Japanese market perhaps?

I would prefer Square-Enix develop the chrono series and Xenogears series for the Wii. Nintendo owns Monolithsoft which staffs members of the chrono team and the Xenogears team. Also the developer of the chono series works for Namco, which has a close relationship with Nintendo. It's possible that this could happen.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba
