Almost complete parity of sales since December 2006, every debate, every little argument means a little bit less now

Why?

Because pound for pound, the PS3 and 360 have been doing almost exactly the same for almost 3 years now, there are highs and lows for each console, but when it comes down to it, they are pretty much equal and its a years head start that is keeping the 360 in front.

So can we please tone down the fanboyism now?

But don't stop completely because I like fanboys, the arguments they bring, the debates they raise.

Since when does an advantage become a disadvantage?

The 360 launched earlier. That doesn't make it right to subtract sales from it while leaving PS3's sales intact in a comparison.

There you have it. The year lead is the only reason the 360 has had more worldwide sales up to this point.

I was expecting something along the lines of "the wii is pwning both of your consoles", tehehe.

You missed the point of the thread, since December 2006, console sales have been the same, the 360's lead does not come into this unless you want to start a flame war and a whole debate over which console is better blah blah blah!

There is a time and place for fanboys, I dont want to get into it right now.

I agree to stop the fanboyism until Black Friday week's numbers come in.

Because it doesn't matter.

If the PS3 would be on the market for exactly one year longer than the 360, it would matter, but probably it won't, or even if it will, it will have greatly decreased sales, like the PS2 this year. 

The two consoles are directly competing with each other. They are linked together, they rely on each other.  

The first year 360 buyers were the earliest adopters, and they have little to do with the current situation.

in what way?

1) It should really be November 2006.

2) Actually, it should be March 2007. That was when both consoles were available in all regions for the first time.
