Because it doesn't matter.
If the PS3 would be on the market for exactly one year longer than the 360, it would matter, but probably it won't, or even if it will, it will have greatly decreased sales, like the PS2 this year.
The two consoles are directly competing with each other. They are linked together, they rely on each other.
The first year 360 buyers were the earliest adopters, and they have little to do with the current situation.
