This is a pretty current technology in the year 3000, so we have a ways to go

CGI cutscenes are so expansive to make. Half of FFXIII budget is probably from the cutscene alone.

Perhaps, larger scaled games in which the maps of sandbox titles, RPG's and FPS's are the size of continents rather than cities or small countries. I'd like to see your thoughts. |
Photorealism has already being achieved. I don't think virtual reality will ever happen. The virtual boy ruined that idea!!!!!! lol!!!!!!!

You just don't have a very panoramic view whith a small (or sometimes rather large) screen in front of you. 3D VR goggles would be absolutely epic. You could look in three dimentions and see depth and everything. EDIT: But would we're very close to photo-realism. Many games look like photo-realistic in still images already. The dev costs are holding us back though, but that's sure to change. |
There may be no TV or anything made to track that without external hardware....
However this guy and the things he does with the Wiimote are amazing. Definitely worth a watch. Its the first look at 3D gaming, not exactly VR though.
Then we could make the ultimate second life game where everyone lives out their normal real lives in a videogame, it would be the ultimate gaming experience.
The definitive evidence that video games turn people into mass murderers
I think once (or if) we reach photorealism, gaming will be dead for sure(bear with me please). People are starting to forget the purpose of playing videogames; which is escaping from reality.

We will begin going backwards.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

realistic depictions often make persuasive connections with the viewer.
ie; it's as easy to escape by watching a live-action movie as it is by watching a cartoon, or similarly non-realistic art style.
A lot of research has shown how unrealistic depictions can actually result in disassociation and rejection as well, although the results are inconclusive according to meta-analysis. To reiterate, some people work differently with different mediums.

i reckon in the future youll be like the thing in alex rider.like in a virtual world

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"
"England expects that everyman will do his duty"
"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"
