Forums - Gaming - How can Sony and Microsoft's motion controllers be more impactful than WM+?

Gran Turismo 5 is supposed to be usable with the Sony remotes.

If they have a GT5 + Remote/EyeToy + PS3 special bundle... Sony remotes could get popular enough.

@Carl: But how it is used in GT5? And how does it add to the gameplay? You can already use Sixaxis/DS3 as a "wheel" or just use the analog sticks to control the car.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I have no idea.

But if it has some kind of usage, and it gets a bundle with GT5... There is no better game Sony can put with it.

Lol, GT5 was supposed the be 'the' defining race game, ultra-realistic and all that right? So, then yeah driving a car with a big fat red glowing popsicle is definitely uber-realism at its best...

@Carl: Few "waggle" minigames to go along?

Seriously, i'm not sure would it make sense, other than to force the peripheral to people to get it spread. When you could bundle it with every game.

They'll have to put the camera on people's hands, not at people.

Software software software. It's the reason why Motion Plus hasn't become incredibly huge (yet. Wait for Zelda), and that's simply what will make or break their efforts.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I dont know whether MS and Sony can convince Developers to use their Motion Control significantly, especially it will be hard to see what sort of adoption rate will those devices have (especially the Wand) the 1st party will suport it but i still doubt that 3rd parties will support it more then on the wii

Just as realistic as playing it moving the car with your thumbs, yeah?

Of course to get the most realistic experience you will use a wheel.

@bdbdbd, like i said... I dunno, maybe its something small like what... Painting your car or something. Of course, the camera can be used too for the 3D "looking around corners" thing.

I don't think there's anything either of them can do to make their motion controls have more of an impact.

That initial impact of see the Wii remote for the first time and playing it was the most impactful moment there was. The novelty has worn off and now motion control will just be seen as another standard way of interacting with games.

We've been playing with motion controls since late 2006 with the Wiimote and, to a lesser extent, the Sixaxis. A new remote from Sony won't do anything the Wiimote hasn't done before with WM+ with some minor improvements and Natal is too much of a question mark to really consider in my opinion.
