Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Windows 7 Usage Passes All Versions of Mac OS X

I would of thought this to be the case launch day.

Just bought my wife a new laptop. It came with Windows 7, and I am very impressed. She has a Mac too but prefers the Window operating system. It is easier for her to use and more universal.

I will probably be looking to upgrade to Window 7 on my personal laptop and desktop.

hahahaha I knew mac sucked but I didn't realize they were THAT pathetic. Get fucking owned. 5% market share even with all the shitty advertising they do and they get passed by Windows 7 in a couple weeks.

Hey apple stick to MP3 players, something you're good at.

They mainly appeal to my age audience, 18-25. Sometimes slightly over. This audience buys anything apple will throw at them anything with 'i' in it.

They reasoning sometimes is very silly, such as they are the best on the market, they are not evil microsoft, they don't get viruses when downloading illegal porn. So on and so on, nothing about the actual OS interface and how it helps them.

I find it interesting how Apple is always seen as this great, magnaimous entity while Microsoft is seen as evil.  Even though Gates is one of the most - if not THE most - charitable people in the world.  Sure, MS did bad things, so did Apple, Sony, Nintendo etc.

People love to hate on the market leader, but MS doesn't lead everything.  I am enjoying watching the XBox brand claw into the industry.  Healthy competition is a good thing.  And for those who say "MS has money to burn so it isn't fair," well, just look at Sony.  Nintendo would never be able to sustain the losses that EITHER of those companies endured - look at Sega.

I don't dislike Apple, but I find their methods draconian, their OS heavy-handed, their PR snobbish and Steve Jobs to be no better (or worse) than Gates/Balmer in the ethics department.  Apple OS is not for me.  If others like it, so be it.

Love my MAC for school and productivity....love Windows for games and stuff. Vista sucked major ass, but 7 is awesome. XP was my fav MS OS and 7 feels like the evolution af that OS.

Oh noez! Windows 7 sells well! I'd better chuck my Macbook out the window and get a PC, quick! :o

Well if you paid retail for that Mac you could have got two PCs.

Oh noez! Then I better not chuck it out the window, but sell it and get 2 PCs, quick! And they better have Windows 7, 'cos that sells a lot, and therefore I must have it too!

it doesn't matter how great or crappy the next versions of windows are. People will flock to it because they don't know any better.

It doesn't matter how good the next version of Windows is either. People will deride it because they don't know any better.

What I find as interesting are all of the Mac comercials lately. There is nothing but attacking going on. I don't know a thing about what the new Macs can do because they are too busy beating up their suit-clad strawman.

Well said.  Apple really needs to find a less smug sounding yet simultaneously incredibly insecure advertising method.

I just can't ever get into the Mac OS X software. I've always preferred Windows.

I don't think Vista is all that bad. Though I haven't been using my Vista laptop for gaming much. Except for retro gaming (emulation). Problem is, I can't get Peer Guardian to work with my 64-bit Vista OS and Microsoft Office 2007 just isn't as intuitive as MS Office 97-2003 were. I'm still having trouble getting used to Microsoft Office 2007.

I got Windows 7 in the mail a month ago but I can't use it because my school's wifi won't allow Windows 7 on their network due to compatibility issues. So unless I want to do a dual boot (apparently you can do something like this), I'm gonna wait until the school has the Windows 7 thing ironed out (by the end of the school year). And my old desktop with XP is too archaic and slow to install Win 7 on it.
