Forums - General - Hacker to be extradited to the US

To be honest hacking into a top secret military computer is no small task. Hell, I bet he broke into one of the most secure systems in the world. If he goes to jail I bet the US government would have a job or two for him to do. I bet you will see him working with the government throughout his life, despite serving a prison sentence.

Kind of like how people who forge documents and money sometimes end up working with the government to tell them how to spot forged documents and money.

It would be a waste if they just kept him in a prison cell or mental institution.

It is considered the "Biggest military hacking job in the history of the world."

The way he's been saying he did it never really seems to jive... even with his own accounts.  He said it took him 2 years... yet he used a simple pearl program?

The whole thing largely seems to just be a political stunt because some people in your country are upset about the extradition treaty... with people like Scifiboy even being so misinformed to think that the UK can't extradite people.

Truth is it's only "lopsided" because of the US consitution.  The US has much stricter lwas for the government charging people with crimes.

So while it's lopsided in principle it isn't lopsided in practice.  We don't need the same kind of proof to extradite people from the UK however if we want to even hold them in jail... we need that same kind of proof.  So if we don't have the same kind of proof... all we could do was hold them for 24 hours before they flew right back to the UK.

It's a silly controversy.

Did most of that have anything to do with my post? lol

Anyway. I'm all for him being extradited, I mean he hacked into US military computers. I remember when I first heard about the case many years ago, I thought he should be extradited then. Because it is a crime committed against the USA as a nation, he should face the penalty there. If it was the other way round and some guy from the USA hacked into MI6 computers and exposed a weakness in our system, I would be calling for him to be extradited to Britain.

Most of my posts have nothing to do with the original thing i'm replying to.  I like to expound.

No. I'm actually someone with a degree in psychology... and no. It's usually diagnosed before 11.

Either as it's condition or another kind of ASD it laps over with.

It doesn't help that the tests for it are mostly targeted at the young.

It's a very coincidental timing.

If he really does have it.  He should of been diagnosed with something similar back when he was in school.

Though the Syndrome has actually been known as far back as the 40's i believe.

It's just mostly grouped with Higher functioning autism.

Were regular tests carried out 30 years ago or more here in the UK? Just wondering.

Although, then many things can come from investigations after criminal acts. Health issues being one of them as a lot of criminals have studies done on them to see if they are fit to stand trial or not.

My personal opinion on this story is that he shouldn't be extradited just stand trial here or at least in an EU court. I believe he'll stand a fairer trial.

Hmm, pie.

In the UK.  I can't say.  In the US... yes for ASD disorders.

I'd assume the UK had competent psychological doctors thoguh.

On the opinion that he'll stand a "fairer" trial... why?

And B... how would you feel if someone broke into your military computers and the US refused to hand them over?

Despite having an actual legal agreement that compels you to turn them in.

Also, when it comes to fairness.  You would be hard pressed to fine a more well done system then the American Judicial system.

In fact.  The UK is starting to emulate the US judicial system.

I can't believe there are people even debating that he shouldn't be extradited.

If someone, anyone, hacks into a military system and deletes/destroys files, that is considered a pretty major crime. I don't see how Aspergers justifies someone doing such a thing. Regardless if he has it or not, he compromised major military systems which usually ends in major prison time.

Also, why was he diagnosed AFTER the hacking? I know it sounds far-fetched, but I wonder if he made it up just to get out of his sentence.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

A UFO with clean fuel? There is no such thing as a clean fuel considering that you only use fuel in combustion.
