To be honest hacking into a top secret military computer is no small task. Hell, I bet he broke into one of the most secure systems in the world. If he goes to jail I bet the US government would have a job or two for him to do. I bet you will see him working with the government throughout his life, despite serving a prison sentence.
Kind of like how people who forge documents and money sometimes end up working with the government to tell them how to spot forged documents and money.
It would be a waste if they just kept him in a prison cell or mental institution.

It is considered the "Biggest military hacking job in the history of the world."
The way he's been saying he did it never really seems to jive... even with his own accounts. He said it took him 2 years... yet he used a simple pearl program?
The whole thing largely seems to just be a political stunt because some people in your country are upset about the extradition treaty... with people like Scifiboy even being so misinformed to think that the UK can't extradite people.
Truth is it's only "lopsided" because of the US consitution. The US has much stricter lwas for the government charging people with crimes.
So while it's lopsided in principle it isn't lopsided in practice. We don't need the same kind of proof to extradite people from the UK however if we want to even hold them in jail... we need that same kind of proof. So if we don't have the same kind of proof... all we could do was hold them for 24 hours before they flew right back to the UK.
It's a silly controversy.

Did most of that have anything to do with my post? lol
Anyway. I'm all for him being extradited, I mean he hacked into US military computers. I remember when I first heard about the case many years ago, I thought he should be extradited then. Because it is a crime committed against the USA as a nation, he should face the penalty there. If it was the other way round and some guy from the USA hacked into MI6 computers and exposed a weakness in our system, I would be calling for him to be extradited to Britain.
