Even Resident Evil 5 on Wii then.

Besides, you make it sound like Capcom should be ashamed that it pulled MH3 from the PS3 and announced it on the Wii. To me it's obvious that on the PS3 the game won't be such a huge success as it should be and probably will be on the Wii.
Many factors contribute to this like a lower price point and the fact that the Wii has thrice the userbase (according th vgchartz) than the PS3. Furthermore that gap may widen to such meassures, due to this christmas with many hit titles coming out in Japan for the Wii and practically nothing for the PS3, that Capcom will indefinately postpone any PS3 version.
I dare say that Capcom will make a PS version only then when they will have guarantee that they get the money back with some profit. Which maz prove difficult since zou have to put more assets into vreating a game for the PS or xbox than for the Wii.

“Also in the news section is a tiny interview regarding the recent platform switch for Monster Hunter 3 from the PS3 to the Wii. Asked if it was possible that the Monster Hunter series would still come to the PS3, Capcom’s publicity department said that Capcom has a multiplatform strategy, so they cannot deny the possibility. Asked if numbered versions of the game could appear on the PSP, the response was that the PSP portable series has an important position within the company. Finally, Famitsu pointed out that some people may have purchased a PS3 once Monster Hunter 3 was announced last year. This drew a big apology from the Capcom reps, who said that PS3 owners should wait for further announcements in the series.“
It doesn't have to be Monster Hunter 3 but I WANT A MONSTER HUNTER GAME on the PS3 CAPCOM. It will help me get over my bitter pill with you and how you lied to us Sony fans... AGAIN. PLEASE CAPCOM!!!!! At least they apologized for lying. I feel better about that. |
Lied to you again, as in what happened with Devil May Cry 4?
You sissy. With few exceptions, the PS3 is too expensive to develop exclusively for, no matter how you deny it. Nintendo fanboys eventually accepted that the N64's developer loss was Nintendo's own fault. You Sony fanboys need to just toughen up and accept this, and instead of blaming developers, demand Sony fix this issue, before the PS3 actually does become the next N64.
In other words, take it like a man, and who said life was fair?
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs
I'm sure Montana will say I am just being spiteful, for some perceived hatred of the PS3. But this really does sound like a company spokesperson was put on the spot with some questions and rather than piss some people off and close doors he left everything open without committing to anything. And in true "teh internet" fashion it spreads as gospel in a matter of hours.
As always I will be going with my "If its not officially announced its not being released" standpoint. And those hoping not to be disappointed again should probably do the same.
PS - How is what Neos said spiteful? He is basically saying he doesn't get the appeal of the series. If the entire series were on the PS3 you could call it spite, but when the only announced game is on the system Neos prefers it hardly amounts to spite. More like someone who honestly doesn't get the game.
PPS - And you can chalk me up as someone who doesn't get the series. But more power to the folks that do, not all games have to be my cup of tea.
Capcom and Square Enix go where the money is in each individual case (rightfully so, IMO); same thing happened with RE4, Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, FFVII, DQ, etc. It makes perfect sense to release a game designed for the Japanese to the platform the Japanese love. They shouldn't be ashamed.

I've never played a MH title myself, but I understand they're popular, especially in Japan.

Actually the monster hunters on PS2 have never cracked 60,000.
The handheld ones sell like crazy, the PS2 onces, not so much even with the huge install base.

| omgwtfbbq said: this is exactly what you get for buying a system for "potential". If you purchase a system for one particular game that isn't out yet then don't be too surprised if you get burned when that game doesn't get released. Of course you may factor in potential as a reason to purchase, but don't depend on it. |
Couldn't agree more.

Monster Hunter 2 sold over 500k for PS2 and the other two titles sold over 200k. Not huge sellers but they were hardly bombs either.

PSP sales are much bigger because of the multiplayer perspective that favors handhelds. Implementing Nintendo Wi-Fi connection (they'd be crazy not to) would guarantee at least MH2 sales.
