The only "official" numbers are shipments.  Everything else is just estimates.

Pretty sure this won't sell anywhere near the previous.

MW2 got such massive sales from most of the people that bought COD4 and liked it.

AC was bad for a lot of people, so I doubt it's going to have the first's legs.

Shouldn't it be the other way around? That a weaker game has bad legs while a great game has long legs.

So Assassin's Creed's legs were surprising to begin with since the reviews nowhere met the insane hype. This time around hype is less while reviews are great, so AC 2 should have quite good legs.

Anyway, 1.6 million first week is less than I thought and suggests only 7-8 million total lifetime sales instead of the 10 million I have predicted.

Suprisingly high sales since I thought most of people bought Modern Warware 2 and then would wait to next month to buy this..

1st week sales will probably be higher on 360 since it got a full week of release in North America.
However, overall sales will be pretty close between the two platforms, I think.

Looking forward to: FF Versus XIII / LBP2 / The Last Guardian / Yakuza 4 / ICO Collection

@ reasonable
the first AC story was great that is what let me buy the second one.

Well, I loved the setting, etc. but the story in the first boiled down to:

- what's going on here (Desmond)

- we want to look through your memories (bad guys)

- aha, we've found what we were looking for, the location of these mythical devices, the 'Pieces of Eden'.  Let's go get them.  (bad guys)

- hey, I'm not the first they've used for this, looks like the guy before me went crazy and left a lot of scrawled memories, plus I can now see like an Assassin.  And what are these 'Pieces of Eden'?  And why are the Templars and Assassin's fighting over them?  And wow they're still around today!  (Desmond)

- The End

The entire core narrative as Altair was just killing some guys for vague reasons without any variation or even game mechanics, just climb a few towers and get close to a few people and then you're allowed a crack at killing them.

So far in AC2 there's been more actual narrative and development in the first hour than the entire game of AC.

I mean, I'm glad you liked it.  But I struggle to class AC story as 'great' when it amounted to the first six pages or so of prologue in your average thriller of this type.  When I finished AC I thought, hot damn, they've only sold me the openning prologue, the cunning buggers, and they're going to make me buy the damn story later.

Great engine though, loved the cities, detail, animation and of course, being a cool Assassin has a certain draw to it.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

It seems kinda low though but I guess lot of people are still busy playing MW2. I expect this game to have better legs.

Well for ppl who think PS3 version will sell more. On the UK chart this week PS3 version debuted @ #5 while x360 version is 3 places higher (Even beat MW2 PS3's 2nd week). So I bet the sales wasn't even close in UK. the biggest gaming market in EU.

Better have some good legs with 450 people working on the game.

What?!

That's a ridiculous amount. What were they doing all the time?

Certainly not working on the visuals.
