Nobody who's played Uncharted 2 could say that Uncharted is a distant third in anything.

I would say Uncharted > Crash > Jak.

i'd say they are all equal , everything ND touches turns into gold. except of course their first game ever. but that was made when they were only a couple of guys messing around.

Everyone has mentioned great series of games. I personally don't think making one game for a series on a the current generation is milking things. For example, making a new Metal Gear game on PS3 was needed, the PS3 can allow the developers to do a lot more for the game than they could on the PS2.

I would like to see a new Syphon Filter and Twisted Metal.

Metal Gear Solid and Syphon Filter are far from milked.

No platform has had more than two MGS games, or three Syphon Filters (and even then, just the PS1. The PS2 has one SF, and it sucks).

Ps2 also had Dark Mirror, but thats a port

and Omega Strain is FAR from sucky, it had great online and level design. and also one of the best ranking / reward systems back then.

CTR>U2>whatever else ND made

and that's a Fact !!

I wouldn't be surprise if we will see an announcement in the near future maybe next E3 or much much earlier.
I also expect eight days and Getaway 3.

Re-announced at E3 and then put on hold for Eyepet PSP

Hopefully next year, it's development was leaked a few months ago. One of the best Sony franchises.
