It seems Twesterm no longer wanted to be a mod. But with this happening a new mod must be selected soon don't you think? We have a lot of users and not too many active mods.

Speaking more seriously...

There's a specific workload created by the acitivity level of users which reachs an equilibrium point when mods take on a certain amount of that load. Twesterm has said that he did not feel like he was pulling a lot of weight, so his stepping down from his position probably hasn't affected the larger load very much. Naznatips probably has a pretty good idea of how busy things owuld need to be before he brought on another mod.

More, he probably has a list of likely candidates for modship in case it ever comes up. I doubt that he decides them on the spot.

Oh definately I was slacking.  I feel a bit bad saying this but there were days where I would log on, see 8-10 jobs in the queue, most of which required reading through an entire long thread, didn't want to deal with that, so just left and read Kotaku or some other site.

Most people don't realize the amount of work that goes into making some moderations and get mad when things take a while and I just have a tremendous amount of respect for the mods here, especially the ones that are sticking with it.

But nobody's forcing you to take care of the mod jobs. It's not like Naz is going to jump out of your screen and yell "TWESTERM WHY THE HELL AREN'T YOU BANNING THOSE PEOPLE?!", is he? You could read through the site and post normally, while ignoring the mod queue.

If that's thee case, I can see why he would drop out of the position.

Was that referring to the Naz-scolding or the constant "8 Mod Jobs Pending" that shows up?

The latter. I mean, if he doesn't want to do the mod jobs, and they're a burden that keeps him from visiting the site (which is understandable even if he is not compelled to do them) then it only makes sense that he would set down his title. No point in being a mod if you don't feel like you can do the job.

I actually respect Twesterm more for recognizing this pattern in his own behavior than I would if he just tried to power through it.

I'll admit, I am unable to ignore new messages and wall posts. Hell, before I enabled "Cheat requests only for games I own", I used to check every time those came up.

I guess it's one of those things you can only understand if it happens to you.

Actually, the thing I'm most interested in is the mod forums.

Still.

Is it as cool as a secret forum should be? Is it on VGC, or elsewhere?
